1:22 AM and still no guesses. See you in the morning.
EDIT: It's now 9:05...no responses. I guess everyone is at work...except we retirees.
EDIT: 2:41 PM. Did everyone quit?
EDIT: 5:14 PM. Did I kill this thread? I'll check back after dinner...
EDIT: 6:23 PM. Dinner's over, dishes are washed, dried and put up...and I'm here.
I just checked and saw that I posted this one at 1:55 PM yesterday. So, I guess my 24 hours is more than up.
ANSWER: (drum roll, please...) This is me at the Minoan Palace at Knossos, Crete. It was the capital of the legendary King Minos, and the principal center of the Minoans, the earliest of the Aegean civilizations.
It is located on the northern coast of Crete just south of modern capital of Heraklion (Hercules).
Legend has it that Zeus was hidden a way in a cave on Crete so his father (a Titan) would not eat him. Zeus eventually freed all of his brothers and sisters who were eaten by their father. (Not too much different from today's headlines, huh?)
If it looks familiar (on film), it's because there have been many DOCUMENTARIES about the place and it's worship of the Minoan Bull and its labyrinth.
It is thought that when the volcano at Thera (modern day Santorini, 88 miles away) blew (in about 1300 BC), the heat blast and 200' tidal waves killed everything in it's path. That's why we don't know much about these people.
I'm dropping out of the next photo so whoever comes in after me is next.
