My first use of molasses in a recipe...is this flavor going to fade over time?

About 5-6 weeks ago I brewed up a 3.5 gallon batch of RIS and decided to add 1/4 pound of molasses to the recipe to try it out. I added the molasses along with some palm sugar to a cup or two of water and boiled them, then added the solution to the fermenter after 3-4 days as fermentation was starting to wind down a bit.

Since then, all of my sample tastings have been overpoweringly liquorice/molasses flavored. My last sample was when I bottled about 5 days ago. The aroma is actually fine, but the sample tastes like molasses all the way through. The flavor just overpowers everything else in the beer IMO.

Anyone else who has used molasses have experience with using it, and if/when the flavor fades a bit? I am really hoping the rest of the beer starts coming through at some point.
