Evening all - thought I'd share a project I've been working on.

I"ve been after a kegerator I could take camping (mostly for race weekend duty). I wanted it to be "off the grid" b/c some of the places it will get used won't allow me to have something that requires electricity 24/7. I spent a lot of time searching here and the closest thing I saw to what I wanted was Biermuncher's trash can setup (still the gold standard of "standalone" setups, in my opinion). But, I also wanted it to be easier to stow, probably up in some rafters, when not in use. So I came up with this.

I bought two basic plastic storage containers that would give me enough height for my corny's. From there I cut some rigid foam insulation to fit. I filled any gaps and recesses with spray foam:

For now, I'm adding plastic to contain the ice/melt water. Not sure I want water standing/soaking into the foam. I need to find a membrane of some sort that i can adhere to the inside of this and not have to use plastic all the time. I'm thinking maybe grace vycor soft flashing, but need to read up on that a bit more. Anyway, there's room for two kegs. Here's my test run of one:

Then the other, also insulated container flips over and sits on top. I made the tower so the taps are at a more comfortable pour height.

and the payoff!

How about that Rhino Liner spray stuff. It's rubbery! Or what's that As Seen On TV spray crap with the guy in the screen boat?

That might help seal your foam... :)

What was the cost of this build? I REALLY like this idea...

Nice work. That is very simple and very practical.

Have you considered adding casters?

the containers were $30 for both plus a sheet of rigid foam ($20) and a couple cans of spray foam. The PVC was less than $10 - the shower flange I think might have been $10 as well.

As for the tapping guts it's a 2-keg fridge conversion kit, so thats $180ish (2 faucets, regulator, CO2 manifold, lines and disconnects).
