My beer wont carbonate

Hello,

I am confused. Ive never had a beer that wouldnt carbonate under CO2 before. I know these things:
The keg is holding pressure
the keg has been hooked up to CO2 for several weeks
I just recently upped the CO2 to 30PSI with no change in the overall product.

Does anyone know what the heck is going on?

The beer I tried to make is a Mad Elf clone from Troeggs brewery in Hershey PA. It is high in alcohol but I have successfully carbed high gravity brews before. The only unique thing about this beer, that I havn't done with my other beers, is that I added some cherry flavoring at kegging.

For the life of me, I cant figure this out. Thanks for any help!

Is your valve to the gas line turned off?

It sounds like you must have a leak. It isn't possible that a beer under pressure in a keg wouldn't carbonate at all.

The only other thing that might possibly make a difference is how full your keg is. I recently had a keg that was filled to literally just below the gas post. That one took a lot longer to carbonate I'm assuming because the headspace in the keg was so small.

I had a few beers that didn't carb at first. I believe the reason in all was unfinished fermination. I know, fermentation should increase carbonation but do yourself a favour and take an gravity reading now. If relative high it might corroborate me.

Thank you all for the suggestions. All my valves are open and i have drank enough flat beer from the keg to eliminate the head space issue. I had the brew in a secondary for a month to hopefully be fully furmented at the time of kegging but i will take a hydrometer readingbjust to check.

I recently had a similar problem. It ended up being my QD on the gas side. Drove me crazy, I pressurize the keg take it out of the fridge spray everything down and find no leaks. Hook everything back up and the next day no pressure again. So wiggle your QDs and listen for leaks. Might be as simple as a gasket.
