Well im looking to make a list of beers i need to try. if anyone has any input on beers you would recommend someone to try post them in this thread.I plan on going to binnys beverage depot later today and picking up a couple to start with.
So any input is appreciated.

thanks

so far on the list is

moose drool
sam adams chocolate bock
Lost Abbey Devotion Ale
Koningshoeven Quadruple

Bell's Hopslam if you can still find it.
+1 on Rogue Dead Guy
Founder's Red's Rye
Bell's Consecrator Doppelbock

It kind of depends on your experience too. I'm assuming you're in the same position I was when I started trying lots of new beers not too long ago and had only tried a few of the basics (IPA, pale ale, stout, etc.) so I tried as many different styles as I could. If you know a particular style you want to try more of, let us know and we can be even more helpful.

Pliny the Elder
Pliny the Younger
Founders Breakfast Stout
Bell's HopSlam
Stone Ruination
Ballast Point Sculpin IPA
Rouge Dead Guy
AleSmith IPA

Also anything by Lost Abbey

Founder's Kentucky Breakfast Stout
Founder's Devil Dancer Triple IPA
Founder's Old Crumudgen
Bell's HopSlam!
Bell's Expedition Stout
Bell's Two Hearted Ale
Short's Huma Lupa Licious
Short's The Magician
Short's Bellaire Brown Ale
Arcadia IPA
Goose Island Bourbon County Stout
Goose Island Matilda

There are many more I could list but this should be a start.

I think Oskar Blues IPA "Gordon" belongs in this list. They also make a RIS called Ten Fiddy which is fantastic.

Also:
Avery - The Maharaja
Young's Double Chocolate Stout
Rogue - Dead Guy and the Hazlenut Brown is pretty good too for a sweeter beer.
New Holland - Dragon's Milk
Stone - Arrogant Bastard

Specific beers to try:
+1 on Rogue Dead Guy Ale
Rogue IIPA
Ommegang Three Philosophers
Sierra Nevada Torpedo IPA

Nonspecific that you should at least try once
-A sour beer, ANY sour beer. Everyone should try at least one.
-A fresh local brewed hefeweizen, it's going to be tastier than anything you get mass marketted, just make sure it's FRESH.

Trappist Rochefort 6, 8, 10
Troges Nugget Nectar
Southern Tier Oat
Southern Tier Jah'va
Dogfish Head World Wide Stout
Bear Republic Hop Rod Rye
Green Flash West Coast IPA

Stones Oaked Arrogant Bastard
Founders Backwoods Bastard
Westvleterans 8 or 12
La Fin du Monde
Troeggs Mad Elf
Three Floyds Alpha King
Bear Republic Hot Rod Rye

+1 on the Oskar Blues Gordon and Ten Fidy. Actually, all of their beers are awesome. I was put off by them for a long time because they came in a can. Who the hell pays $8 for a six pack of ANY canned beer? Finally tried them at GABF and wow....even $12 for their 4 packs seems like a bargain now. If you can find it and you like peppers Billy's Chili beer is another one of my faves.

Binnys by me doesn't carry anything from russian river, stone and I'm pretty sure they all carry the same stuff. Also a lot of stuff people are listing (hopslam, founders kentucky breakfast stout, etc.) are seasonal and Binny's only gets them one day a year and they are usually sold out within a day or two. They do have Brooklyn's Chocolate Stout regularly, so I would definately recommend picking some of that up.

wont repeat ones others mentioned but i didnt see:

victory prima pils
samual smiths oatmeal stout
molson golden
dfh 60,90,120

struisse - pannepot

surly - darkness
peche mortel
white birch - barrel aged barleywine -(if you can find one)

Didn't read the whole thread, so some of these might be repeats, but (in no particular order):

North Coast Old Rasputin Russian imperial stout
Stone Old Guardian barleywine
Bell's Hopslam IIPA
Three Floyds Dreadnaught IIPA
Founders Double Trouble IIPA

I'd never even heard of Rogue Dead guy until I read this thread. Tonight, I stopped by the place I usually buy beer and sure enough, they had it. This stuff is fantastic! I can really taste the hops. Good stuff for sure.
