Mr Stupid goes to the Brew Store.......

Since my Irish Red has been waiting in the primary for almost 5 weeks now I decided its time to bottle. My scrounging as of late has not had much sucess in turning up emptys to refill so I decided I would bite the bullet and purchase new bottles. Did the math before I left the house and decided I needed four cases of bottles for this batch. Got to the store and started the negotations by offering two bottles of my "Skeeter Pee" that was sweetened with honey. After many thanks and praise for how clear it was I decided I would settle on threee cases and make do as I have around 13 emptys at the house and around half of them are 22 oz. Get to the register and she tells me that she is going to knock $2 off each case and then give me a 10% discount.:rockin: $30 is about the lightest on my bank account a trip here has ever been awesome! As im loading the bottles I remember that I also needed some starsan, so backinside for another purchase and some more small talk. Leave the store driving down the road with a huge grin on my face for some reason, get about half way home and remember that I wanted to get some more bottle caps."censored!" I should have enough for this batch just like to have extras on hand incase I mess up to many times. Remind my self just like every time I really need to make a list when I go in, it seems every time I dont have a list im so excited that I forget half of the stuff I went in for. Not sure f thats because of all the cool stuff to look at, or the lady that owns the place, but every time im in there I get all flustered and have trouble making complete sentences. Im leaning towards the latter lol. Finaly get home and as im carrying the boxes of bottles in I notice something.... I did my math counting 12 bottles per case, and these are 24 per case......... Guess Ill have some extras. Anyone else have these kinds of problems?

all the time. I just starting buying bulk and getting an extra of every little thing. If I don't have what I need, I usually have something that will work. I also have a brew bud a couple miles away that is well stocked.

I dont care if thats what it is lol, between her and the fact that the guys at the other LHBS in town treated me like I was not worthy the one time I went in there this store has my business as long as they stay open. I even chose to spend the extra few dollars vs buying on the net most of the time.... I tell people that its cause I want to support local business but it may be more than that lol.

Thats what I expected when I got into this lol. One of these days I may work up the brass to ask her if she would go to dinner with a hairy troll

The good news is that Mr Stupid did the math right this morning. Just got finished bottling and got 52 perfectly filled bottles plus a small taste. Got a full 24 count box of emptys now:rockin:. Based on the taste of the warm flat taster its going to be a long month waiting.....

I'd tell you to just use table sugar and save the trip, but you have more important things to do there.

A person who lived at my address before me continued to get Cosmo magazine delivered here, and I flipped through it a few times. One article was about the best new places to meet guys, and homebrewing classes were at the top of the list.

Find that hard to believe... the "guys" (use that term loosely) that work at the ones here seem to have internet girlfriends that are of the cyber type. The home brew stores here in Houston are different for sure. Well one more so than the other. The other I am kind of involved with so I am partial to it. HA

Since I moved to 1.5 gallon batches I have bottles (empty) all over the place. Giving my brew buddy a container w/about 50 greens all clean up, no labels.

That leaves me w/about 100 ambers to work with.

Exactly!!!! but also i heard table sugar give you a cidery taste so i dont want to risk it lol :cross: ( more excuses lol)

Sounds like me,even IF I make a list,I always just know I'm forgetting something. Gotta go to my LHBS in a little while. Too bad no little hotties work there. It's probably a good thing,though. I'm distracted enough,being like a kid in a candy store that just found a wallet on the sidewalk.
