I am in process of assembling a Brutus 10 replica (build thread to come).
I have purchased the Brewer's Hardware heat shield /mounts for my Banjo Burner (http://www.brewershardware.com/12-Heat-Shield-Burner-Mount.html). I now need to know the best way to install these.
My stand is 1.5" 16 gauge mild steel. I have read that the 16 gauge may be too thin for tapping holes. I suppose that the shields could be welded to my stand, but I am not sure if my flux core wire welder is capable of doing that, and I am even less certain in my ability if it is in fact possible. That leads me to the next possible solution, welding a nut onto the stand. If I go that route would three bolts welded to the stand provide enough strength to support the rather heavy burner? Again, my welding skills instill little confidence in me.
Thanks for the help guys!
