I don't see how helping your Uncle Jack off the horse, kids, and Nazis should be in this thread.

Won't know for about a month, but comparing with other people its looks like I probably did. Obviously there's a lot more to it than the two grammar questions they throw in. There's an easy math question also, but it's job related math.

I'm a bit of a grammar Nazi, but I'm also a rebel! I know "alot" is incorrect. Yet, I persist in using it because I like it. Alot.

I don't mind some misspelled words, but some really annoy me. One example is when brewers talk about "muslim bags". Another is "Belgium beer". I laugh at some of the other words, though- like having a good pallet.

The one thing I am too old to tolerate is textspeak type posts. If someone is using no punctuation, the letter U for "you", and asking for advice, I don't respond. I understand it's hard to type on Blackberry devices, but if you don't have the time to type out your question, why should I spend time formulating an answer? It takes me a while to think about the question, consider what the problems could be, and type out an understandable response. If someone says, "i messed up my beer wat would u do if u were me" I move onto the next post. It bothers me. Alot. :D

I use alot a lot also ;) Thankfully though, I knew that it was wrong. 1 point can mean a few thousand dollars technically because it could make a few months difference in promotion time.

What kind of job do you have where promotions are based on grammar testing?

Well considering close to 75% of the typical day is spent writing reports, its pretty obvious how important proper grammar is. Besides, it was only two questions out of 100. When 8000 people take a test, 2 points can be huge, at leest alot a the thyme. ;)

Sheesh...here we go with the "text speak" stuff again! Didn't you start a whole thread about this?!?;)

A coworker once sent me an email apologizing to be the "barrier of bad news" but I let it go.
