So I was at the Goodwill looking for glassware (found some cool glasses for $.79) and I found some party kegs or mini kegs (5liter) for a $1.99 ea. I was wondering if any one used this type of system and if there is any recommended equipment to go with it... Thanks for your help

Yup, just get a tap-a-draft and a bung for the top of the 5 liter keg. Then you just need some small CO2 cartridges. You should be able to buy all of these things from your LHBS.
You should see a lot of reviews here on tap a draft (TAD). My only suggestion would be that you make sure the tap is closed after pouring a beer. Someone here mentioned using a rubber band to make sure it stayed closed.

If the keg does not have a built in tap at the bottom then you'll need a tapper.
