I entered my Chocolate Coffee Stout as an Americn Dry stout and didn't place. Maybe should have gone into the Specialty catagory?
My American Imperial Stout took 2nd place but there was no 1st place listed?? I wonder if there is a point level that has to be reached to take first?
I should get the scoring papers later this week.

I noticed this in a competition I entered, and I think I read somewhere that some related categories may end up combined when scoring depending on the number of entries or other reasons... Though that could be totally wrong because I dont remember where I saw it.

I found out today that all 8 stouts were placed in one category.
I saw similar things in a competition from a few years ago. I had sent in 3 beers. One category had a huge number of entries and all 3 places were awarded, one had only 2nd & 3rd awards (I took 2nd) and the last no awards were given out at all. Explanation I got was that awards were given out only if the beers were judged to be worthy of an award. I questioned this and never received an actual answer. My 2nd place beer scored an average of 39, so I don't know the validity of the reasons I was given.

Funny my 2nd place only got 30 points. There was a 1st but no 3rd. I've had higher scores on other beers that didn't place at all. LOL Anyway. I'm HAPPY!!!!
