mash cooler: thermometer

i have the HD rubbermaid 10 gal cooler that i use for my mash.
has anyone put a thermometer on the side to check temps with out having to open it up?
if so plese point me to what i need to do this....

I read either on Homebrewtalk or the AHA forums that someone used this: http://www.mcmaster.com/#1061t11/=e1b69u and inserted a thermometer to read the temps. There was a full write up but I only bookmarked the part.

I did it in my cooler mash tun. Works fine.

I have almost the same setup. I have a thermocouple in a SS thermowell instead of a digital quick-read thermo, but it's essentially the same. I used a little keg lube so that I could jam the stopper in really well. I've never had any leaking problems.
