I've been experimenting with commercial Kombucha bottle dregs to see what will happen. I'm using bottle dregs from Kombucha purchased from Walmart and Aldi's. It looks like some kind of neutral yeast is in there, it's fermenting clean with no off flavors at room temperature. I add lemonade to the dregs, let it ferment, then pour it off to bottles when its done then adding more lemonade to the dregs in the jug. I'm on my third jug and have been using the "Fakebucha" to add a little tart flavor to cheap light lager. Sometimes I'll drink it as it is, but usually just a few sips. Next I'm going to add 5 lbs of frozen strawberries to about 3 quarts of fakebucha and see how that comes out. I've taken a very lazy approach to this and not taken any gravity readings. Anyone else using Kombucha dregs?
