Woohoo! Snuck out a little early from work and walked 18 holes for opening day at my home course. Made it in under 3 hours with 15 minutes to spare before sunset. It's been cold, cloudy and wet. Nothing's growing yet but it beats work

By yourself? I could dream of walking around there in the spring on a quick round. That looks beautiful. How long is that one? Cant figure out where I would hit it without distance. Looks tight and tough.

Yup. Thought I was only going to fit 9 in but I was playing well and was cruising. That picture is deceiving. Not too tight and 560 yds downhill. The trickiest thing about that hole is you're up on a hill and there's always crosswinds. Nicely designed hole. I always come up a few yards short of a final dip that would give me the yardage to get on in two.

Early masters start yay. Because my tee time is at 137 and would have missed it. Looking forward to today. Playing late masters early and friends and family for breakfast.

Spanked them good out there today. But didn't really see the upside. Missed 4 tight birdie chances on front and 2 makeable putts but happy to play well from the tips. Need to establish a handicap for a member guest with fil. Problem is his course is one of the hardest in the state and I have never ever played well there. It's tough mountain golf. This dinky course is nothing like that.

View attachment 397018 I played friday, and again today. Man, I love golf. I think my game is really coming together. All I can think about is the next round and where that might be.

Played Eagles GC - Forrest Course in Odessa today (local course here in Tampa area). Really nice course, but tee boxes were messy, greens were dry and fast. Who cares, I wasn't working but instead golfing with one of my boys. Great day. Man I landed some. Pitching game is going great, putting went great, fairway irons need work.

BTW, I'm a terrible golfer, always working on my (fill in the blank). Don't care, love doing it anyway, and love being on the courses.

I'm afraid I'd be a disaster on the course, Andrew. As a kid, I did love driving, though, and recovering balls from creeks that bordered the course, for a small amount of dough.

To paint how ridiculous I am, my brother and I used to putt-putt golf together. One hole in particular was our fave. It was supposed to be this old western gold shaft, a moderate "L," and we....teed off at full drive. Idiots.:D

As I understand it, my father was an avid golfer and used to golf a nice course right on the Pacific Ocean about mid-California, can't recall the course (drove through the area once). There's a pretty cool - would you call this a trap? - hole that is a pretty yawning gap, an inlet to a small bay, and you have to pop the ball over the inlet.

As little as I know, I know Tiger's accomplishment is pretty amazing. Even being an outsider, years and years ago, I was wondering when sports was going to stop talking about him.

^^are you thinking of cypress point? That's pretty cool if you are. That's one of the rarest and most difficult courses to get on iirc. The public course is pebble beach.

Whatchya brewing? Yes sir. What a great tournament.

I made a chamomile honey wheat beer and an IPA (I had an unopened pound of Jester hops that I needed to get out of the freezer).

Did hit a bucket. I was slamming drives long and straight. Tried an adjustment to my swing, it didn't work out (everything suddenly was fading right). Then I couldn't get my normal swing back. I just sat down in a chair and let my son hit the rest of the bucket. Ugh.

Cancelled overtime...forecast? Golf!View attachment 622228
Hoping to do the same this coming Friday. Good Friday is a holiday for everyone except my team, so hoping to get in, get work done, and get onto a course. Forecast calls for 15-20MPH winds, but as long as they’re behind me that just means longer drives!

On most courses, keeping tail winds for the entire round is damn near impossible.

I don't remember where I saw it, but there are short par 4/5 holes that face the ocean and get tons of constant face wind.

I like this hole in Idaho. It's a floating island. Haha. Need to take a ferry to get to the green.

If I can figure out how to get my clubs in the ridiculously small baggage compartment of my plane, I could go play that course. Otherwise, it's a one day drive each way.

It's really that small? I've got a 2-dr sports car that I can barely get a set of clubs into. But an airplane? Isn't there a 2nd seat you can put it into?

Sure, if I don't mind them jamming the control stick, and maybe the rudder/brake pedals.

We know all about winds in cental Texas. Used a 5w on a 150yrd hole once..short of the green. I was the last to hit. Everyone else was in sand trap 15yrd in front of the green...with 4 irons. HA!

Heres a few small bags. I use the larger travel bag. They are out of biz but I have used this tube for a long time. Always wanted a Sunday bag.

Thanks for the idea, but it's more an issue of the length of the clubs than the cross section area of the bag. I'll have to take my driver to the airport to see if there is any angle that might work.

Some of my former coworkers took a weekend trip to Coeur d'Alene over 10 years ago. They had a great time. Said that a caddy was included. Not sure if that was part of the weekend package or if it was required for playing the course.

They also said they got one chance to hit the green on the floating island. Otherwise it's off to the drop area.

Playing fox hollow tomorrow. It's nice. Also when looking for pics of it I saw bear dances bear claw hole. I eagled it once. The pin was at the bottom of that ridge on the green. If you drive the green and are on the upper tier getting a par will be difficult. Bear dance is one of our best.

I'm ready to retire....something always gets in the way of golfing. Like..uhhh, work! At least lately the other thing in the way has been beer related so shouldn't complain. Who's got good lottery numbers they'd like to share?
