but the thought of dealing with all of that makes me ill.

Awesome, thanks. As far as availability and price go, is it worth taking advantage of the bottles on Etre to pick up while in Belgium, or can I reasonably expect to do just as well while there?

Not quite the level of StLam/50N, but Etre reloaded some loon shelfies during this madness. Might be some left...

Thanks for the heads up on that. Will look forward to them at the end of June. Shelfies are just as tasty as seasonals, especially once you factor in the flavor of online **** shows.

Seeing that Fou/Nath sale, five seconds in, will forever be my one lightning strike.

I just bought some. They tend to dribble them in over several hours when available, rather than one big drop.

Wound up being able to get one, along with a bunch of other stuff I was going to look for. So I guess now I get to just pick up most of my haul at Etre. That works.

I hope you plan on having a car. Their brick and mortar isn’t exactly close to Brussels or any other major tourist destination.

Struck out on bottles but had locked in a proxy, if anyone has an extra set they wanna pass off at cost i'm here... :(

Do you plan on drinking then all while there? Bringing extra carry on luggage? I’d just let them ship the bottles home for me so I wouldn’t have to lug those bottles around but to each their own.

Ooof, I think I'd rather just get it shipped. Their quarterly reservation system is a great way to go. Start a box with shelf Loons, then add a one off 3F or two if they pop up, and finish it off with OG/Kriek or random Decam/Lindemans/Boon.

Question for MikeG or anyone who has gone this route before: Have you ever added a 375 of Rose/Kriek later on, in addition to 750's? I have not tried that before, but would seem ok, as it's not multiples of the same bottle.

Yes, it's fine. They have limits on each size bottle, not overall. I think you can usually order one 750ml and two 375mls of each variety.
Protip - you can order unlimited 3F OG and Fantome Saison.

I have 4 extra checked bags the way flights worked out. Considering the tax bill I just got slapped with, saving ~$400-500 is too good to pass up. I already planned to drive to Fantome on 5/2, so Etre appears to be sufficiently on the way that I can stop in for the pickup en route.

The butt hurt on the Cantillon FB page isn’t nearly as bad as I thought it would be. My favorite post so far is from John Paul Chirico: “This doesn’t help the people in America that love your lambics like myself that can’t afford to fly there. I have to pay secondary for most Cantillon.”

Isn’t secondary for a few bottles more expensive than getting to and from Brussels?

Does anyone actually know if this is true?

I would have guessed about $1500 for airfare, hotel, and other incidental transportation, but I don't travel to Europe often.
Depending on where you're from in the states, you can get <$500 flights and easily stay in Brussels for like $60 a night. If you wanted to be super frugal you could probably do an entire trip for like $1000. It wouldn't be nearly as fun as spending $1500 or more but travel and accommodation can be really cheap.

My wife and I are traveling Europe for almost a month starting next Wednesday. Non-stop flights on Norwegian from Seattle to London round trip cost us less than $800 total between the two of us. Our Ryanair trip from Dublin to Brussels was like $30 per person. Staying in Brussels for two nights is costing us around $120/night or so. I think that a Brussels round trip could probably cost as little as $800 before buying beer.

After quick review of Cantillon on mybeercellar, it appears that you can probably get six to eight bottles of seasonal Cantillon for around $800. If you want items like 50n4e you’re paying much more...

If you’re traveling alone you can do it for cheap. If I weren’t going with my partner my upcoming trip would have cost around $1500. Airbnb in Brussels is dead cheap for great homes and that makes it pretty affordable.

Cheapest way to do it at the moment is probably to get a cheap flight to somewhere Norwegian flies to in the US (Oakland, Seattle, Boston etc), pick up one of their $250-350 round trips to London Gatwick, then onto the Eurostar to Brussels.

Ya but for ~$150 more you can fly on a non-budget airline like Virgin Atlantic and not get nickeld and dimed for basic amenities like food and checked bags. SF to London (RT) on Virgin was about $550 and would have been closer to $450 had I booked earlier. British Airways isn’t that much more expensive and the service is great.

I'm definitely going to need to talk to you before my next trip...

Agreed, I usually do BA from Seattle as the competition from Norwegian has dragged the prices down significantly since they started operating the route. If you're looking for the absolutely cheapest way to do it though, Norwegian (or WOW!/Icelandic) are the first place to look.
