Hey all. I'm relatively new to gueuze and I have a bottle of Lou Pepe Gueuze (2013 sticker) coming in the mail. Never tried it before but is it even worth drinking this young? Its not something that is "easy" for me to come across so I'm curious if it would be worth trying fresh. I was planning on aging it for at least three more years but I'd like some input. Thanks.

I'm also usually one to say try it fresh if you've never had it, but I agree with MooseLang . I opened a 2010 sticker December of last year and a 2007 sticker the beginning of this year. I thought the 2010 was too young and not much different than regular gueuze, but the 2007 was incredible.

**** that didn't last long.

Also, that price.... I miss the old days.

That couldn't possibly have been the same number of bottles, right? This is 18 bottles of of 75cl - you're saying that the price used to be 5.5€ per bottle?

Anyone see 3F OG on the shelf here stateside recently? Just curious what the going rate is, post Shelton-tax.

Shelton hasn't sent any to Milwaukee in 3 or 4 years, so it's hard to tell if the 225,00€ is a bad deal or not.

I bought some Tilquin OG for $23 / 750ml recently, so that's kinda my only yardstick at this point.

A recent shipment of 375 mL 3F OG was ~$12/bottle at a local shop with admittedly good prices on most bottles.

Same number of bottles (18). It worked out to ~$14/750 shipped IIRC, the exchange rates weren't as strong then.

YOU PEOPLE have ruined everything. They sat year round at that price. Sat on etre forever and ever at like 6€/750.

Haven't seen anything in the Boston area. We had some Cantillon drop like ~2 yrs ago but I've not seen anything since. Could be that stores are holding onto the bottles or just making less of a commotion about announcing their arrival and quick sellout.

750s

^probably moreso that employees purchase the bottles before they ever hit shelves

Store employees or Shelton/distributor employees?

I'm more curious about the latter TBH, if anyone has any insights.

At least with store employees, there's repercussions (i.e. people will choose not to shop at said store). No such penalty for the importer or distributor given their monopolistic positions.

I got a pair of fresh iris bottles in the mail yesterday. Both of which leaked in transit as evident by the smell and sticky labels. It kinda got me excited because last time I opened a leaky loon I enjoyed it moreso than its non-leaky counterpart.

Which then got me thinking... I know some "on-site" only loons sometimes leave the premises and appear in trade threads. What are the chances some iris grand cru might end up in the wild as well? I need that stuff in my life again.
