Totally. I could buy it locally up until ~6 months ago. That $25 tag scared people away I think. I would still like to fill my box out with 3 for less than it will cost here (and try one ASAP).

With pretty much only 3 people buying it and the amount we get I am never surprised things seemingly last forever here. If we get any of the new batch I'm sure that will sit too. Just save me a few bottles because I'm old and slow.

Do people think that the 2011 batch of GB is actually closer to the 7.5% abv listed on the 2014 batch? The abv on the 2014 batch is what has made me hesitate from buying as many as I can.

Been browsing Lambic.info and was wondering if anyone had much info on how Uli does his blends? Per Lambic.info, some are limited to 5-6 bottles. How is this guy doing these tiny blends? Is he simply blending bottles of whatever then rebottling? If so, I foresee some Cuvee Rene/Orval experimentation in my future.

I haven't heard about opening individual bottles to blend (but it really wouldn't surprise me), but I know he is purchasing lambic in a bag from a number of producers to include in his blends hence some of the really small releases.

I've had a few that were absolutely phenomenal and some that were downright terrible (whatever that smoked peaty lambic thing was...)

Can anyone confirm if this label info is correct in the link below? Reorganizing the cellar again and I guess I have a scarenbecca kriek with a label and no white around the edges but no dates listed or notched on the side like Hanssens has done... Lambic.info has nothing about the vintages of each of the labels, just shows both labels. I know they've been in the store since at least 2013 but IDK anything past that.

$28. Woof.

Where do you live if you don't mind me asking?

Just got a call from JFK customs saying I have to fill out paperwork for my package to get clearance from the FDA before it can be released from customs

does anyone know what this process entails/how long it takes?

i don't have any info that will help you but i'm interested to see how that turns out. a friend of mines box has been in JFK customs for almost a month now with no word. one of the bottles is mine so i'm hoping he even gets a call

Gotcha. Might have to play around myself with some blends of shelf stuff to see what happens. Figure out a way to get it to carb up.

I certainly think the whole blending from bottles and re bottling thing is a possibility with some of the smaller bottle counts, but I am no expert on Uli blends. I've only ever had maybe three or four. Quite honestly, I don't get the hype. I don't trade for homebrews so I don't really understand trading for home blends. Same plane to me. I have had the more commercial ones he's done with De Geuzen van Oud Beersel group and those were good though.

Send me all your peated lambics! I can't get enough of that stuff.

Also stay away from his crazy birthday beer, he used actual peated whiskey in the blend.

As for blending he just gets the bag in a box from different breweries and blends them. Which, from personal experience, works very well to make gueuze blends.

I've never had any of his blends, but it just sounds like fun. Especially looking at that list of stuff he's put together. Pannepot and lambic? Sure why not...
