Go on....
Given the recent posts here, I thought those of you outside Baltimore might be interested to see what Max's Cellar Sale includes during next Friday's kick off of their Belgian Beer Festival. I've trimmed the list to include just lambics as there were some other styles offered that wouldn't apply to this thread (older Chimay, St. Bernardus, Rochefort, old Vapuer Saisons, etc.).
I'm considering getting there pretty early on Friday (sales start at 11am), but the prices have not been made available yet and they said many of the beers listed are in extremely limited quantities (only 1 bottle available for some).
Note: Their last cellar sale had regular Cantillon Classic at 30$/750ml and Hommage at $55, so I'm not hopeful for many 'bargains'.

I'm eyeballing that 2004 Iris hard. Not sure how I'm going to prioritize the rest without knowing the prices.

I'd do horrible things for a '08 3F Schaerbeekse, but that's just me.
Has anyone been getting foreign boxes through lately? i want to place an order but don't like the sound of the customs issues...
Just had a '10 yesterday (nearly on its birthday too, it was bottled Feb 8, 2010) and it was pretty darn good. The funkiness was bordering on mustiness though, which isn't exactly what I want.Regular Cantillon Gueuze '09 and '10 should be drinking great right now and will probably be cheaper than many other of the listed beer.

I think it is up to those of us who have seen the real thing to tell people that it is the real thing. The way we convey that is to look at the authenticity of it. You want to try and show people how it is made and definitely draw the distinction between that and how they make the other stuff. It's like coffee. I tell people, "Look at what Starbucks did for coffee." We have no hope of doing that for lambics over the long haul, but we keep plugging away at it.
Nice to see success hasn't gone to his head. He comes of as a raging ********* back then too.I stumbled across an old interview with Dan Shelton that was done back in 2003. http://www.beerscribe.com/shelton.html
No hope, huh?
Dat haul! Clearly I'm doing the Belgian ordering thing wrong.I also finally received an order that was shipped several weeks ago from Belgium after much stress over the box. Contents posted in haul thread. Much excitement.

Anyone come across the one on the left?
18 month 3F lambic blend with Del Ducato's saison. It was pretty legit. I was boozed by the time we got to it but from memory the lambic came through a lot. It would be an interesting one to age.

I'm wondering if I have my first lost shipment:

I'm in Ohio. Does anyone have a guess for why it the package would have been sent to Ohio, then to Illinois? Thanks
I heard that we might be able to get Lindemans lambic in a box soon. I'm so excite for that.Digging the new Lindemans labels that were announced earlier this week:

That is stupidly awesome. I've been looking at ordering some Girardin lambic to lay down on some homegrown fruit so I can make my own ghetto SHBRL.I heard that we might be able to get Lindemans lambic in a box soon. I'm so excite for that.
If your gonna order just one lambic go with the oud beersel instead. The giradins isn't something I would want unblended on anything, especially the latest batch I ordered. That being said you can use it to blend with and it works wondersThat is stupidly awesome. Question: Does 3 Fonteinen Oude Geuze come in cases of 6 or 12 750mls?
Interesting. I've never like oud beersel's gueuze, and always loved Girardin. Never thought it would be reverse with unblended lambic. These bag lambics are unlike the gueuze produced by the blender. They are only a small part of the final blend. The girardins I would describe as a very earthy, musty, cidery funk with a little lactic sour. Last batch had some strong oxidation as well. The oud beersel is more sour with that barnyard funk but a little thin.Interesting. I've never like oud beersel's gueuze, and always loved Girardin.
