Somewhat recently, why? It's still very good, might be the best of the 4 at this point.

I did the whole series on my 30th about 6 weeks ago, and thought that Zomer was the best at this point. Very bright with plenty of citrus, pulling ahead of what Lente was like when it was young. I put Herfst at number two now, not terribly far behind Zomer. Herfst was nice and earthy, a bit leafy. More funk and a more restrained acidity. Lente is still spectacular, but doesn't stand out the way that it once did. Winter is an amazing beer, but quite a bit behind the other three, IMO.

Herfst is around in Aus atm. $80 a bottle (plus $15 shipping)... I'm unsure if I'm $95 curious.

Anyone want to sell me on why I should spend $95 on it? I could always top up my box with Golden Blends and OG but this place has the most expensive prices anywhere.

There's no reason to spend that much on it.

Nah but I got a pic of a monkey ******* a frog?

Just had a Golden Doesjel (from 2012) and was underwhelmed. I think there's some sugar in young-ish lambic that needs to be fermented out before I really start liking it.

Anyone got a pic of a 1996 Cantillon gueuze label?

Could be any number of labels including the yellow label with the guy leaning back in his chair, the blue Manneken Pis label, or the black label. Which one are you looking for?

It's so weird how all the informative old threads on BA were created by people who are now banned. So damn weird.

That's why I find myself browsing TB a lot more lately vs the other site. The only reason I go onto the other site is for the ISO:FT forums, and given that I'm not trading as much now, I've been on here a lot more lately.

Yup!
Any interesting info on dat bad boy?

Nothing much more than I said in that thread from two years ago. My bottle was 1996, dated cork, and brought in under Shelton when they were still based in Miami. There are tons of variations of the black label, and the earliest verified bottle using that label was from 1985. It popped up on ebay a few years ago. I ended up opening that bottle for Zwanze Day in 2012 with Forgetfu. It was still doing pretty damn good. Someone else turned up a bottle with the same year/label recently as well, so they're out there.

Has anybody seen or heard what 3F's or Cantillon's holiday schedules will be this year? Wife and I are headed to a few European cities around Christmas and were hoping to buy tickets soon (and schedule around closings, my wife LOVES that part ). Haven't seen anything on their websites or really paid attention to when they close since I lived there. It also just might be early to post too...

I'm pretty sure at least 3F did a looong Xmas closure last year, like from Dec 21 to Jan 6 or something.

Had this yesterday:

Wow was this ever sour, but in a way that I obviously enjoy. My stomach was not too happy by the time I finished the bottle though. A bowl of fries settled things back down. Beautiful beer with huge acidity and the raspberries are holding up well enough.

Not yesterday, but the night before.
Blew my doors off.
