Cantillon Mourvedre. (A blend of two grapes varieties. 75% Mourvèdre and 25% Carignan)

First taste is sharp and vinous, with a heavy tannin presence. Medium mouthfeel with the grapes lingering on the backend. A distinctive wine like funk creeps in as it warms up. Carignan always had a soft velvety mouthfeel.. this one is the polar opposite.

Man I don't even drink beer if it comes in a bottle format I can pronounce.

I love a lot about this. First of all that Uli just sells bottles from the trunk of his car, that he just hands you a bottle and a label and wishes you good luck getting it on there, and that he blends geuze with 14 year old lambic

May Day is ******* incredible!

i drank 8 Uli's yesterday, i love everything

Oh wow I'm pretty sure I had that May Day at Yves's place in 2014. I didn't think that was what they'd actually name the blend. Supposedly it was way overcarbed, IIRC it was pretty nice then.

Also, I am like ragingly jealous of you guys over there right now. I really, really wanted to make this TdG but just couldn't end up doing it. Stupid children...

Don’t let your failures define you

If anyone who’s at TdG tries the Oud Beersel Vandervelden 137 I’m interested in tasting notes. (I’m sure not the sexiest thing anyone there will try but I’m not looking for jealous feelings about all the ones I can’t buy.)

I bought a bottle but haven't tried it yet as I was too busy drinking other lambic :)

I went and did a thing.

To satisfy my curiosity I made a master list of all of the numbered 3F blends since they began rigorously documenting their details with the 16/17 season, taken from Lambic.info (obvi). This includes:
  • season and blend number
  • bottling date
  • bottle format
  • number of bottles (when specified)
  • ABV (if it was documented on Lambic.info)
  • Beer Name and if it is a "honing" batch
  • any label notes (again, if documented on Lambic.info)
This list also includes missing blends from the Lambic.info logs. These might include future OGV release, as-of-yet unreleased Speling van het Lot bottles, or blends that have been released but not identified by Lambic.info.

If you're curious you can look at it here.
