We all enjoyed the Goedele's more... as a stoemper lover myself I was pleasantly surprised

The label on this bottle is not dated, which I haven’t experienced before with 3F. There is some etching in the neck of the bottle which seems like a JulianB calendar dating thing (355 13), so I’ll assume this is a 2013. What a great year for 3F that was. This is amazing, as always.

Anyone try the Book/Mikkeller Oude Gueuze Vermouth yet? I cracked a bottle over the weekend and it’s a strong contender for best beer I’ve had all year.

i drank one at the Mikkeller bar in the Copenhagen airport the other day... i really enjoyed it but it was pretty muted and a little metallic even after letting it warm for a while. otherwise solid geuze, pretty young which brings out some fruits and easy drinking... i had to grab a draft pour in between so i didn't kill it too quick haha

I will drink draft Tilquin over basically every other draft beer out there. I guess I’ve been deceived into thinking it taste good. I don’t want to live in that other world.
I had Tilquin on draft for around a month and a half and how it changed over that period was really nice. first day tapping it was very buttery and round after a few weeks cleared up and became brighter and much more enjoyable.

So, had that share on Saturday afternoon evening. Incredible stuff. Pics and notes below (in order of tasting).

That was the full line up.

First up was the Zenne (b2). Poured into a decanter which we left for about 30 minutes. Tested my patience. This beer was perfect. Had a deep funk undertone and perfectly balancing acidity. Good levels of barrel and sherry comes through the length of the palate. Hard to describe but the flavours were prominent but pulled together to be very soft in its entirety. This one will be hard to top. Incredible beer.

This was so well balanced with barrel and Armagnac. Navigated well with subtle funk and soft acidity. Really light and balanced. Had the previous batch (Cognac) and found this one to be far more balanced. Would argue this is one of the nicest Cantillon beers I have had. Beautiful beer.

(AWA - umad?). I was sceptical but pleasantly surprised. The aroma on this one was amazing. Intense mandarin and apricot. I couldn't stop smelling this. Palate was intense apricot with muscat grapes coming through as it warmed. Light spritz with a nice balancing acidity to the fruit. Would bang again.

Cracked the 2017 Fou next to the SPON muscat. I had a 2017 Fou about 6 months ago and found it to be lacking complexity. It is a totally different beer six months on. Deeper levels of funk and acidity while still maintain plenty of apricot fruit. Well worth doming now if you have one.

Next up was a 1999 Vig (? - see cork pic below) side-by-side with a 2016 Vig. the 1999 was left and 2016 right. Amazingly, I had never had Vig before. Couldn't believe how well the '99 held up. Nice pop on the cork. Really deep funk (not intense - just depth of flavour). Acidity balanced perfectly. Plenty of grape still evident through the palate. Light oxidation which pulled a layer of sherry through the palate. Just an amazing experience. The 2016 was incredible. Plenty of muscat fruit on the aroma and palate. Really fresh fruit flavours, light spritz and soft acidity and funk. Vig has rocketed up the ranks of my favourite lambics.

Again, similar to the Muscat, this was nicely balanced with plenty of fruity and acidity. But not face puckering like a lot of AWA I have had.

Nath was next up. Had this 6 months ago and didn't mind it but wasn't my favourite. Was better this time around. The zoo animal sulphur had fallen away in both aroma and palate. Acidity was dialled back too which I thought brought forward the rhubarb.

Phwoar. Had the LDA side-by-side with a 2015 Lam. This is no knock on the Lam but thought the LDA made the Lam taste a little one dimensional (or muted). Absolutely incredible beer. I thought this beer blurred the lines between minimal intervention wine and beer. So much red grape through the palate which was balanced by subtle acidity and funk. It had this light peppery tone going on in the background which gave it another level imo. This has been a personal whale for me and I am so thankful to have tried it. Would love to try and get more of this.

Lam is Lam. Always have and always will love this beer.

SPON Syrah and Sangiovese was the last beer of the night (outside of a Stickee Monkey night cap). Like the others, this was a really nice beer. Light fruit and sourness. Easy drinker.

Beer of the day was definitely the Zenne. LDA a close second. Had a wonderful day. Oh and to top things off, my wife made a fantastic anti pasto to graze on through the share:

Hell of a share. Thanks for posting with so much detail.

SeaWatchman @anyone interested to hear your thoughts on actual year of the Vig. My friend traded for a "1999" bottle and the cork had 2000 on it. Does the beer get produced in 1999 and bottled in 2000 hence the 2000 cork?

There was no date on the back label.

It’s likely a 2000. But it could also be (unlikely tho) that the Vig was bottled late in the season and they had already started using the 2000 corks. That situation sometimes happens the other way around when the they’re still using the previous year’s corks while the bottling date reads current year.

Your wife was the ******* MVP of this day.

About the only thing that could have possibly made this tray better would be fresh figs instead of the jar. ;)
