WLV pulled out a ******* case of that beer for Zwanze 2016. Surprisingly good, ours was pretty decently carbed, pretty sweet and very fruit forward. Your comment about a blend of framboise and Flanders is spot on. Really enjoyed it.My neighbor strikes again, this time with a 1986 Boon Framboise:

It was better than I was expecting. Dead flat, but not the overly oxidized mess that normally portends. Plenty of raspberry. Sweeter than I would've guessed, plenty acidic but not overly so, and definitely somewhat oxidized, just not too much. Honestly it was kinda like a blend between a fresh-ish framboise and a Flanders red.
I also opened a Belgian Flag Cantillon Gueuze (so 2013), it was solid, pretty much what you expect from that age Cantillon gueuze.
Does that color come from the catsup? My neighbor strikes again, this time with a 1986 Boon Framboise:

That's a tasty beer. The dry-hopped stuff he released earlier this year was so good.#NotLambic but related (he used to only buy and blend lambic right?) Dutch blender Tommie Sjef has a bottle for sale at his online store: https://tswildales.com/blog/store/druif-2017/?v=c42f253c0ffb
If anyone has a way to get bottles stateside, please let me know![]()
Huh?Does that color come from the catsup?
It didn't say, SeaWatchman would probably know if they did it back then. I wouldn't be surprised, it wasn't Lindemanns level sweet, but it was sweeter than most standard Framboises around now. That reminds me to start befriending my neighbors!
Any idea if it was a sweetened lambic? I know the 70's/80's were questionable times for lambic producers.
1995 beer of the year from Malt Advocate! It's weird, it must have been imported nearly a decade after being produced. Also, what the hell is Malt Advocate? Also, what does that stickers say on the top right? 1995?
Apparently what Whiskey Advocate used to be called.1995 beer of the year from Malt Advocate! It's weird, it must have been imported nearly a decade after being produced. Also, what the hell is Malt Advocate?
Bummer. I was hoping for a community of fellow chocolate malt aficionados.Apparently what Whiskey Advocate used to be called.
"Werner Van Obberghen of 3 Fonteinen said that the brewery and blendery “can no longer find itself” in the values and direction of Horal, although he didn’t wish to elaborate on why they were leaving."Some news afoot (well, officially confirmed now) in the lambic world:

I really enjoyed visiting the lambic visitor center when it opened, watching the video, and getting to drink different HORAL member beers. That was the first time I felt there would be great camaraderie among the lambic producers. Very sad to see this happen. Some news afoot (well, officially confirmed now) in the lambic world:

Yes he used to belnd lambic before he could legally drink it I think. I had some very good fruited lambic stuff by him a few years back. Now he brews wort in The Netherlands and ages and blends it in his own facility.
It's kind of hard to get. You have to buy it from his online store and it usually sells out in a day, and only a few bars and 1 or 2 stores get any. (Or you could trade for it ofcourse.)
The beers are not. I believe / was spontaneous (if I recall when I asked them about it) but then they started culturing their house yeast from a blend of their local microflora and their old lambic blends. His wines are spontaneous though. Are his beers spontaneously fermented? Website says wild yeast but still a bit unsure.

Yeah, last December I was at Cantillon and asked for 12 Bruoc and Magali looked at me like I was crazy because no one ever wants that much. Then she went and told Jean and he laughed bc he know it was me asking and he knows how much of it I have at home. I ended up with the volume equivalent of 12.
Does Jean come home with you frequently?
My wife doesnt even know how much we have and she lives here and has free range to pick and choose what/when we drink them.
