has anyone followed any of the skinner auctions that have included beer lately? the beer lots are usually a pslit 50/50 between lambic and beer that no one cares about. I have considered bidding in the online ones but those buyer premiums are brutal if you end up buying more expensive bottles.

Those fees are exactly what stopped me from buying a bottle or two this past round of auctions. Some nice bottles available though.

Nah. That **** is just stupid.

At those prices? HELL no!

1993 Eylenbosch Kriek (Cuvée Speciale)
Notes in cellar review thread but overall very nice for a 22 yr old, probably back sweetened, beer. Color and carb were fantastic! Nose and flavor muted cherries, some mushroom, and malty sweetness.

I skipped on buying a bunch of these for €20 a bottle. Kind of glad now.

Any of you guys Florida based? We're wrapping up our vacation today and I remembered I brought a couple of bottles over to open at The Festival last weekend and never got it sorted. We're in Delray Beach tonight then stopping by Cigar City tomorrow night if any of you want a bottle of Quetsche and a CSG. Drop me a mail - I figure this thread gets a first shot before I stick something in the trade forum.

Them feels when your box is one of the 4/5 to make it through LAX. In 24 hours no less.

I'm down south in Miami, sadly

LPF 2012 was so good that we had 3 bottles of it.

It really is that ******* good. It was the only bottle I did multiples of during my trip last month.

The new LPF got me rock hard. Smothered jam all over my face.

LPF is legit not good and not going to get better if this bottle is indicative of the entire batch. Not very jammy, already super sour.

you guys should fight

I had the same experience as Adam with a bottle I had two weeks ago. I have always enjoyed LPF and have a high tolerance for lambic on the acidic side of things, but the bottle I had was fairly one dimensional and overly acidic.

The bottles I drank yesterday were very fruity and the sourness was totally in the backseat. I actually think it will be even better with a few months more.

Had a 3F OG 375 tonight (US label, feb 6 2014). It was still, thick, and ropey. Forgive my newbie showing, but does geuze get infected like this, or was it just not hugely carbed and I was over reacting? I have close to a case left from this case and am now scared

It can get sick (pediococcus) it will age out, it just might take awhile. A lot of people think sick beers get a really excellent taste once they clear. Your mileage may vary.

I had a 750 of 3F OG bottled 3/13/15 that was pretty flat and had a different character than normal, a bit more body and sharper, less minerally. It was strange, not really what I want fresh, but made me wonder if that batch could age well.

Weird, that's barely past the 6 months geuzes are usually given to carbonate, so maybe it's just taking longer. Or maybe it will be relabeled as a new Doesjel batch.

I was very surprised. It had more carb than Doesjel 2006, I don't remember the new ones as much, maybe it's close to right for them.

I just got some Hanssens Oude Kriek and trying to figure out the bottle dating. Two say "best by 07/08/2027" and one says "best by 07/08/2032". I thought Hanssens dated 20 years out but this seems wrong since these are newly purchased from a we shop and so should be relatively fresh. Am I wrong about the 20 years thing? Is Hanssens following De Cam's former practicing of throwing old labels on new batches? Or did I really just get 2007 and 2012 bottles (this seems unlikely)?

I popped one the other day (also US label, 6 Feb 2014) and it was fine- not still, thick or ropey. Could it be bottle storage variation, or even just bottle variation within a batch?

be happy there's a date and not just a letter batch code that not even they know what it means.
