Pretty significant DMS in most of the Cantillon gueuze/lambic from the last couple years that I've had. The fruited beers don't seem to have it, certainly not as much.
Interesting. I tend to be fairly sensitive to DMS and haven't noticed it all in the bottles I've had.

Has anyone else been underwhelmed by Cantillon Gueuze from 13 and 14? Haven't had a remarkable bottle from those years yet, out of the 7 or 8 I've opened.

I have been underwhelmed by the majority of '13 and '14 Cantillon I have opened. I mentioned this a little while back:

Someone above describing a DMS character, that sort of makes sense. I get a small trace of DMS and gross, funky sweetness...like it needed to stay in the barrel for another 6 months to cleanup.

Hope this goes away like Fantome's smokey phenols. OR lasts long enough to scare people away from Cantillon :)

Back when lambic/gueuze was more popular in Belgium is there any info on how expensive it was compared to other beers/wine.

What class or group of people drank it the most other than beer nerds?

Old dudes who wear hats, just like the rest of "craft beer."

according to my old boss who grew up in belgium, he used to get cantillon kriek glasses as a treat/candy as a kid.

no idea if he had boss parents or that was normal.

in my experiences the 2014 cantillon gueuzes (regular, 100% lambic bio, no fruit) were not good. 2013 was hit or miss depending on blend/bottling date. however, every fruited 2015 bottle i've had so far has been superb. rose and kreik specifically from 1Q this year have been on ******* point.

will be opening up my first Lindeman's CRSB 2010 on Friday, hoping it is as good as everyone has said. I do like Cuvee Rene quite a bit so I think I will enjoy it quite a bit. thought I may have to open it strategically since there will be many non lambics as well as some other lambics with the potential of blowing it out of the water. I will report back with my thoughts on the beer.

I think it's awesome. Enjoy.

Was there fou up on etre this morning? I see rose, kriek, and bio are sold out.... asking for a friend.

I don't know about Fou, but there are a bunch of 3F Golden Blend bottles back up.

I think the Cuvee Rene Special blend is absolutely phenomenal. I only have 13 bottles left :(

I was pretty disappointed in the one bottle I've had so far. Well, disappointed is too strong a word - I thought it just tasted like standard Cuvee Rene. Guess I'll have to give it another shot.

I've seen a lot of chatter praising the 2014 GB, but I've been very underwhelmed by the two bottles I've opened, especially relative to the 2011 bottles. Anyone feel similar?

2011 GB was straight up vinegar at release. Now it's one of the best gueuzes around.

I'm banking on Armand's mad skillz and will hoard the **** out of GB '14.

I haven't tried a bottle of the 2014, but I just looked it up on lambic.info and was surprised to see the difference in alcohol content:

Drie Fonteinen Oude Geuze Golden Blend is the first commercially released geuze with a four year old component included in the blend, as well as the standard one, two, and three year old lambics. It has been released in two batches bottled in 2011 and 2014. The 2011 batch is listed at 6% ABV while the 2014 batch is listed at 7.5% ABV.

It's not quite as complex or funky perhaps, maybe a tad sweeter iirc, but it's still very good IMO.

Y'all were up too early this morning. I placed my order at like 6:00 eastern and all that **** was already taken down.

I got up at 5 am here and all of that was up. Well the Iris wasn't, but somehow 2 bottles went up as I was refreshing the page after making my initial order, so that was cool.

wyatt apparently wasn't overly impressed either, but it seems for every one of you there are ten of us that had awesome bottles.

Ive never had GB '11 but the '14 i had was outstanding. Very balanced and carbonation was superb. Even my friend who doesnt normally like geuze was amazed how good it was...so much so he preferred it over Zenne y Frontera so go figure

Same here. No '11, but that '14 I had was incredible, thought it was really close to the A&T we had that day.

I got lucky during the Open beer days. I grabbed a case of 24 of GB only to find out at the register straight from Michael Blancquaert who was manning the register that the limit was 6 p/p. I dont know if it was the long chatter we had or what but he said "Ah what the hell Ill let it slide this time". I did tell him it was going to be a sad day for me not being able to come back due to my impending move nack to the states but he was very cool about it. I told him i would come back thenext day dressed with a wig and a dress o get more GB and Zenne so he got a kick out of thatbecause people were pulling all kinds of tricks to get extra Zenne.

Well enough of my long story but at least i get to share some great bottles with friends over in Tacoma,WA
