This past weekend I officially joined the AG ranks and did two 5 gallon batches, a pub ale and a robust porter. Single infusion mash. Everything went great on both batches, the only mishap was a stuck sparge on the pub ale due to the SS braid getting jammed on the rubbermaid, but with a little McGuyver trick got it fixed and flowing.
Hit and maintained mash temps, only losing about 1 degree over an hour. Luckily I estimated I would have around 60% efficiency and bumped up my grain bill a bit and nearly nailed the OG on my recipes, Overall a successful brew session. Now lets hope the finished product turns out as well as the brew day did.
PS thanks slnies and Seabee John for helping to aquire the new kettle and HLT
