Correction, based on KevSal 's posting, it seems it made it to the "winner's circle" in 5th place. See pic below:

We still haven't formally tabulated our results so it could drop off this list of the top 5 but I think that it was definitely better than 10 of the blind entries. Personally, I remember both Aaron batches being better than the BA Vermillion, but under no circumstances should we ever (or anyone ever) drink 18 BA barleywines among 8 guys again.

It was more like 20 Barleywines, a few sours, and several ipas.

I gotta get on that tabulated score now that *SOMEONE finally submitted their scores.

*See above for the person

for those have tried it, how is BA Vermillion? So many beers these days, so wondering if it is a beer worth passing up or not?

Which batch was at the tasting?

mmmmm...Hand & Seal is/was delicious.

I got a reminder about how great BCBBW is this past weekend. Did an impromptu blind barleywine tasting and I ranked it first over some pretty impressive company including Brew 1000, 2015 Great, BA Naked Evil, 2015 BA Gratitude and a cult favorite BA homebrew from a buddy.

I can remember, with amazing clarity, being at the Split Rock Beer Fest, in Pocono PA, circa 2003, and sipping on Hop Devil and other olde tymie PA micro brews, eagerly awaiting that 3pm hour when they tapped Wyerbacher Blithering Idiot.

When it was finally tapped, it was an exercise in get your pour, move to the back of the line, rinse, repeat, until the keg was kicked.

We did not respect beer, and someone in our group peed in the elevator that night.

Old Horizontal, Bigfoot, Blithering Idiot, Old Foghorn.

I have always liked Barleywines.

Any word if it'll be released again? Not finding any info.
No word. It was a bottle I got in a box from a regular trading partner and I kind of forgot about it. A buddy was opening Leon b2 and I figured it would be good to open it along side of it.

I just traded for another as I need more of it in my life.

Irish Walker was a great barleywine as well.

I don't usually care for new releases.....but this sounds pretty damn good.

the way the boards have been with this guy, i'm hoping the 3rd beer is a stout so the attention moves away from this one, if not it doesn't look like this is one i'll try this one. got SARA beer for anyone going to the release

I drank a 2014 BCBBW last night and I am at a loss as to why 2013 is so much better. Not that it was bad mind you, just that 2013 is so much better.

Didn't they switch the barrels used for aging it? Like, 2013 was fresh BCBS barrels while 2014 was straight bourbon or something like that?

At one of the 2014 Black Friday events one of the Brewers stated that 2013 was a 75% third use BCBS barrel to 25% fresh bourbon barrel blend. 2014 was the exact opposite. 2015 and 2016 have been 100% bourbon barrel.
