real unique and bright dark fruits, sets it apart from ba vermilion. chocolate and coffee. i’m a big fan of this. 2018 vermillion was top tier for me, this is right up there. might try to track down a second to do a side by side

yea it was a complete shocker how fast that fell off, it was amazing fresh. i might still have some bottles of it left. had one a few years ago that wasn’t too bad tho
Yeah, it was good when it first dropped but no comparison to Blendiculous #1. That may have been lightning in a bottle, not sure if they can really replicate.

Omega Point was a little too neutral of a flavor for me for an English barleywine. Not enough sweetness, just deep malt.
I've had a couple bottles at this point, neither fresh, and both times I was puzzled why it was so hyped. Tasted like wood and leathery meat. I got the second bottle just to see if I was missing something.

this lil guy is pretty damn tasty, well made with vibrant fruits of plume, black cherry and apple, with barrel upfront and vanilla in the finish. they ba stout these guys make was great it’s not surprising this is the same. is this very limited?

thanks capnmike

It was on the shelf at my Binnys that’s all I know! Smaller places sometimes only distribute to Binnys that are geographically close to the brewery - so not sure how far it went or how much places got. Glad to have it as an option though.

it’s one killer option!

Evanston Binny's? My wife was back in Wilmette this weekend, should have had her swing by for me!

Anybody have VSOJ lately? Had a can a couple days ago and I wasn’t as impressed with it as I was when it was first released. Got some strong soy sauce in the aroma too. My cans have been stored at ambient closet temps.
I had one on Saturday at a barleywine share and it was still fantastic. It finished in at least the top three for everyone there.

First and probably last time I'll have this but in any event it is ************* spectacular.

Yeah I hope it was just a temporary palate malfunction or something. I remember having it upon release and thinking it was one of the best beers I ever had--even better than King Henry. I have two more cans so I guess we'll see.

I have been hotly ISO more (nobody is giving it up though)...your first post gave me pause...thank goodness for some of the subsequent replies :)

I took a Swing at more VSOJ last week. Crickets. Time to just reflect and be happy I got some in the first place.

I think likely same here. Thanks to pdurrrr and trades immediately after the release, I got 10. Checked it in 3 times, which means I BIFed or gave away 7. 70%, C average, if they release it again, I’ll try to do better (though no doubt it’ll be even more of a cluster release next time, meaning, I’ll probably get zero).

Thanks so much for that btw <3

I'm sure the next VSOJ release will be worse. But, given the pattern of shitlords, they'll move on a year or 2 past that, then, for the rest of us.......PAYDIRT!!!

I play the long game, son!

I honestly hope they implement some kind of online system for these releases. Maybe my opinion means nothing since I'm in California, but I grew up in Chicago and understand the winters to be no joke. While it wasn't a big issue during the VSOJ release, subsequent Deep Woods releases took place during some pretty harsh weather conditions. I hope the brewery acknowledges that for safety/health concerns at the very least.

Barleywine is in a weird spot right now as far as demand goes. Popular enough that the good stuff sells out but not so popular that the good stuff is plentiful, unlike stouts and IPAs.

Speaking of....how was that UA bottle? Another I’ve been halfheartedly trying for.
