Hello friends, I'm in the process of putting together a large Fantome tasting in Chicago in April or May and figured I'd extend the invitation to any other Fantome enthusiasts that may be able to get there. If you're interested, let me know and I'll invite you to the spreadsheet and discuss details with you.

ehammond1 and I will cyber with you and your tasting

Every bottle of Fantome Saison is different, but I've never had a bad one. Some are perfect. Some are just good. But I've never had a bad one. Had many of both OG & new kids on the block labels.

Only Fantome I don't much care for is Noel. Original Saison is the king and Extra Sour is like the tingly feeling you get in your junk on the decent of those swinging boat carnival rides.

Thanks Tectac ! ;-) nothing is perfect ...

youve gotten lucky. i love and cherish the variance, instability, madness (?) of fantome bottlings (moreover its maybe my favorite brewery in the world), but ive had a few new label og saisons (and other new label bottlings) that have been quasi-emetic and literally impossible for me to drink

recently had a "fresh" bon bons that was very good
then over this past weekend i opened a newer bottle of pissenlit that was quite smokey/burnt and had a really weird oxidized flavor in the aftertaste. despite those 2 off characteristics, it was also really fruity. the more i drank of it, the less smokey it seemed. probably would not rush out to buy one again but i also didnt think it was bad enough to not try it again when the opportunity presents itself

To be fair, I get most tomes from the same place. Different shipments & therefore I'm sure different batches, but maybe that has something to do with the consistency ? Who knows.

All OG labels have been great/perfect. A few of the New Kids labels had a smokiness that wasn't bad, just didn't fit the typical flavor profile that I loved in the OG tomes. Kind of like a burnt rubber smokiness (I had this same exact "off" flavor from b1 5 Sciences). Seems that the newest batches are having this less & less, returning to the tome I know & love.

As mentioned, I've never had one that was close to truly undrinkable, so you may be right... Guess luck is on my side!

... well Grand Meaulnes... i'm hoping never more bad bottles .. sorry for ;.

I've never really gotten any chilies or chocolate from Chocolat but it's always delicious. I don't think I've had it fresher than 1.5 years, though......
