Check out The Dresden Files books by Jim Butcher. I'm on book 3 and I'm hooked. It ain't Lord of the Rings, and it ain't Steinbeck... but its a lot of fun.

I'd have to check but I think they are on Netflix. I'm plan on watching it/reading the books.

FYI: the TV series doesn't follow the books; once you get past that, it ain't too bad. I'm waiting for Ghost Story to be released in paperback, but I think my fav is still Summer knight
Regards, GF.

They are on Netflix, I watched them there.

Funny that I saw this thread, I am currently reading Proven Guilty, either the seventh or eight book in the series. Easy reading I think written with the 16 - 24 year old male audience in mind, this book got really interesting about 3/4 the way through.

Ok just watched 2 episodes last night. Its not half bad, though I miss McAnnally's and Mister. His staff being an old hockey stick is kinda lame too...

I haven't read the books but I loved the show. It's right up there with Firefly (well maybe not quite with Firefly) on my "they were really dumb to cancel this show" list. I'll have to check out the books.

Ya the hockey stick thing got me too. I was also disapointed with Bob's appearance; though I do understand it would be difficult to present Bob as he was in the book without a rather long explanation every time he appeared. It took me a while to get over Murphy's appearance too. I'd like to see a movie made that followed the book(s) closely.

Blasphemy! (Admittedly I am a huge Firefly fan) I think the bubblegum sci-fi and fantasy is fun, you can't always read something that requires diagrams to understand the geneology of the charachters. I read a lot of both sci-fi and fantasy and every once in a while a good piers-anthony or Star-trek book is just what I need. Too much tolkein, Robert Jordan, and Dune does wierd stuff to my brain. You start thinking some of the stuff just might work because it is so well thought out and plotted.

Hell, you start putting together the diagrams in your head how it could be done.
