It occurs to me that I have 2 big and one small ferments going, all cranking out tons of CO2 in my small little house. I should probably crack a door and open a window to make sure I don't snuff myself.

There's a One-Minute Mystery for you - A man is found dead in a house where all the doors and windows were closed and locked. He is surrounded by buckets full of beer and wine. What happened?

He fell asleep in the bathtub and his cat knocked over an electric space heater into the tub. He was electrocuted.

Gotta be it!

Haha!

I ate three of those things. That's 1/2 a loaf of bread, 1 1/2 bratz, 1 1/2 strips of bacon, 1/4 of an onion, and an unknown amount of cheese. I'm comfortably full, and getting sleepy. Good knight gentlemen.

Right now I'll be poetic,

To Dan:
Tis time to sleep, yet I'd rather drink
And make a toast to homebrewtalk
And it's time to run off to bed
But damn it, I'm lucky if I can walk.

That's awesome! I'd come back with one of my cheeses rhymes but I'm tuckered out too.

Moved my daughter into her new apartment yesterday, tried to sleep on her floor last night. Not at all comfortable not much sleep. Today got up and rode a few hundred miles on my steel horse. Hitting the sack here soon as well

We'll have to catch up soon my lil brother from a different mother

Got that right!

Sounds good. You'll pay for that tomorrow. ;)

Night LG.

Oh, my these are good. I popped them out of the pan immediately. I figured it was my best shot at getting them out without making a mess. They didn't really stick, but there is no oil in the bottom of the pan. I buttered the tops.

I can't even tell you how good these are. The fresh bread, the butter, the cheese, the salty bacon, the bratz and onions. I think I just made my own kryptonite. Other then being a little to hot, the spice mix was spot on too. It helps I haven't eaten anything today, but still. Definitely recording exactly how I made these.
Those look awesome. Kind of reminds me of stud muffins.

Either a few of us aren't quite telling the truth and going to bed like we said or are just logged in unknowingly. I so tied do that.

LG. I really was going to go to bed but keep looking over that recipe of yours. I'm starving now. Thanks. 😄

Eating some ribs in Illinois.

Well, there is flax in the bread dough. Though I don't think giving one of these to a horse would be a good idea. :)

You're welcome. :D

More rice wine goodness.

Spent the day painting the skylight and dismantling the kitchen floor. Cheap ass wood laminate flooring in the kitchen - previous owner had a leak in the dishwasher and instead of fixing the leak, he just nailed up a false kick plate over the base of the dishwasher to cover it up. Water rotted out the end grain of the laminate flooring, the cabinet kick panels, and the subfloor. The leak was caused by a worn out soap door latch grommet - a $2 part and 2 whole minutes of work to replace.

Well, at least I know what I have to fix, and the dishwasher hasn't leaked since I replaced the seals. I think I am going to call it Beer O'Clock and resume the battle at dawn.

I have to go give my wine her daily beating. You read that wrong.

From the paper thought about this all day

Holy holes in my mouth Batman. Got that errant wisdom tooth and the half incisor pulled today. T-minus 19 minutes on my next lortab. Maybe it's just me, but I get a whole lot of groggy and very little pain relief. :( I can't begin to imagine having to get all my teeth pulled.

Asphyxiation from CO2.

Thanks Mark. I'm sure I'll be feeling better tomorrow when hopefully the pain has chilled out enough to switch from scrips to Advil. I have never understood how people could use prescription pills recreationally, they just make me feel like crap.

I'm with you - I've only ever taken one dose of narcotic (Tylenol #3 with codeine) and stopped after that because I didn't like what it did to my mind.

I can take ^ and still work they effect me like aspirin. Advil is might as well be skittles. I can only take my migraine shots 2-3 times after that I need a couple of months body builds immunity to most meds :(

Interesting meals!!

I am so glad to be back to Florida and no more traveling for a while. I got pictures but don't feel like messing with them right now. Today hubby and I took a detour to see a canyon in Tennessee and hang out at the state park there. But he only let us stay a few minutes, it seemed, then back on the road. My dog and I wanted to stay longer.

All my chickens are alive after leaving them to fend for themselves. They look happy and healthy. They are allowed to run free but they don't go far from the house. I received 2 chicken related gifts while I was traveling, a paper mache chicken made with real chicken feathers and a large framed painting of a rooster. Hmm, maybe my friends and family think I am a little obsessed with the chickens, hence the gifts. I never said I wanted fake chickens or paintings of them.

Anyway, good to be home!

I just threw-up a little bit. Looks like corned beef and cat food:D

Good chopped liver is the food of the gods, I tell you. If you get good chicken livers and cook them properly it has very little resemblance to the overcooked nasty liver that your mom forced you to eat as a kid.

  • 1 lb chicken livers
  • 2 tbsp. butter
  • 4-6 boiled eggs
  • 1 medium onion, minced.
  • Several tablespoons good paprika
  • Kosher sea salt and pepper to taste

  1. Saute the livers in butter just until juices run clear. Remove from heat.
  2. Put half of the minced onion in a metal bowl, put the hot livers and pan drippings on top, and grind/chop them with a pastry knife. These onions will partly cook in the heat. The membranes on the livers separate out onto the knife pretty easily, discard them.
  3. Toss in eggs, grind/chop them into the mixture.
  4. Add paprika, salt & pepper to taste. Several tablespoons of paprika is good here.
  5. Refrigerate until room temperature, add remaining half of minced onion

Serve on crackers, sandwiches, or (my favorite) use as a dip with pork rinds. Yes, pork rinds.

Gotcha, deep fried football, thanks but stick with the beef tenderloin, sauteed Valida onion, and fresh mini french loafs. Washed down with my new dry hopped Pilsner:D
Welcome home Bobbi, just finished raining for the last 3 hours my Arc wood is going to rot before I get it built at this rate;)

I hope it all went well for you. I've got one week to go, and I'm not gonna lie.... I'm getting a bit nervous about it. The good thing is I only have a total of 16 teeth left in my mouth, so it could be worse. Usually when I have one of my teeth pulled, afterwards I don't need any pain killers. Having them removed is like instant relief. It's almost as if a poison was removed from my body, and my body immediately feels better. We'll see how it goes when that is multiplied by 16.

I'm not usually one to quickly medicate. If I do it's usually due to teeth or my back. I like the Tylenol 3 with codeine as a night time pain killer. It helps me sleep through the pain more than anything else. What I don't like is the way I feel in the morning when I wake up. I think I'd rather have a bad alcohol hangover.

Pulled a 1/4 inch long splinter out of the gum where the last tooth was pulled not sure if it's bone or tooth, most of my roots curl into the jawbone so they have to cut the gum and split or third them so the roots can be rotated to be removed. :(

I'll be thinking about you next week. I'd be more than a little nervous, I'd probably need to be sedated and dragged in unconcious. I think my wife was a little surprised when she got home from work and I'd actually gone today. Between my nerves at getting stabbed in my mouth with a needle about 8 times trying to numb both teeth, I almost passed out in the chair before they gave me some O2.

Thanks!

I can definitely relate to what you went through unfortunately.

The shots are the worst part. I was actually wondering earlier how many I'll get. Maybe after they give me a couple I won't feel the rest.

As crazy as it is sounds I'm kind of looking forward to this. Kind of! It's final relief and closure, so to speak. It can't be worse than the pain I've endured over the years. I've even pulled a few teeth myself to save a hundred bucks each time.

With that said I'm still nervous.

And what do I keep wondering to myself???? I wonder how long it will be afterwards before I can have a beer?! hahaha..

My Washington Small Beer experiment is getting interesting. The wort is getting thick, almost like watery tapioca pudding. I think if I put a glass of this in the fridge it would set up like pudding. But the yeast are still in the game and are giving for all their worth, so we'll see. I definitely didn't add enough water to the boil. It's very tasty, might make a nice substitute for Baked Alaksa if I add whipped cream and a cherry to the glass :)
