It's still a bit to early to start making pizza. Time to chill with some tunes. BobbiLynn, know that we are all thinking of you. What you are going through is more than tough, it's heart wrenching. Stay strong Sis. We're here with you.

Here, lets take our mind off and listen to this :)

Here's a pic of the Ricotta I made last night. Seasoned it with some basil, sea salt, freshly crack black pepper and a smidgeon of garlic powder. Not sure if I'm suppose to do that but how can you go wrong with those. I'll make some manicotti tomorrow night.

The pic doesn't really do it justice. Looks kind of like a white blob. But man, it smells delicious!
That sounds about right. I like some parsley and onion powder too. I don't usually add pepper to the cheese in the manicotti.

I actually made some cheese today too. I ran this batch a little warmer then usual to see if I could get higher percentage of the proteins. Brought up about a 1/2 gallon of whole milk to 180f then added vinegar until the protein started coagulating. Not much protein left in the whey. It was very clear.

The cheese also came out with very little liquid in it, as compared to my typical 120f ricotta. It's sitting in some brine in the fridge now. It came out as a single mass, not broken into pieces like usual. Interesting, I'll see if I can slice it in a couple days. :)

Glad you got your water back on BobbiLynn.

You hurt yourself? We said be careful out there... Well, maybe we said that and maybe we didn't. :drunk:

No I am not hurt just tired. Stupid forum is crawling tonight for me or I would upload the photos of us jumping the road.

Feels good to be home and warm:D

Lordy lordy.. Power went out at the Super Bowl? Give me a freaking break. The telecast announcers power ws fine. Really,, effing really? Is this what it comes down to? BS drama for television ratings. Oh, that what was a hypothetical question.

Makes me sick to see this stupid crap going on. Serious? Anybody really think a stadium that is up and running just fine loses power on SB day but the sportcasters keep on talking?

I'm naive. Not stupid.

Dan did you make that cheese from scratch?

I found two growlers in my closet last night. Neither are labeled. I chilled one today, and it is one of the best beers I made this year. But, of course, I can't for the life of me figure out which batch its from. For good or bad, I brewed over 60 batches last year (though many were one gallon). I thought I had good notes. I know this was from a 6 gallon or above batch, and is clearly an IPA or a hoppy APA.

Oh well, I have about one more pint left....cheers.

You didn't notice that the commentators got cut off in mid sentence and then were silent for at least a minute? There was nothing but crowd noise for a minute before they cut to commercial. And then when it did come back, it was a sideline reporter.

I mean, if you wanna believe it was manufactured drama, so be it, but don't claim that the announcers power appeared to go on uninterrupted. :D

I stand corrected. Still believe the drama was staged.

That's possible. Doesn't make sense to me that they would, tho. Why would I watch with nothing going on? If they had been running commercials, that would be one thing, stretching the game out to get more commercials in. But they weren't really doing that, either.

I guess to me, if they're doing something for drama, there should be... well... drama. "hey folks, the lights will be off for the next 15 minutes", which then drags on to almost a half hour, isn't very dramatic.

But I imagine I'll never know for sure. Even if it was manufactured, it was only slightly less interesting than the game had been up to that point. :p

Hey LRB,

Yep, I made it from sratch. Well I didn't raise a dairy cow and milk it though.

Really easy to make mozzarella. I'm going to make some cheddar and brie soon. Waiting on the cultures in the mail.

You know any good riddles? ;)

Off to the cheese thread to see what's involved

I guess I'm still rhyming after all
but if I make it up I'll give you a call

"God Made a Farmer" by Paul Harvey was probably the only decent commercial.

I'll admit I watched the whole thing, partially because Paul Harvey just has a voice that makes you wanna listen, and partially to see where it was going. But it got to the end, and all I could think was... "really?"

I liked Leon Sandcastle. Yeah, it was goofy. But I'm ok with that.

What is this bowl you speak of? The most notable bowl tonight was my bowl of wheat berries...

I had my kids and their friends over, and everyone stopped talking to watch that ad.
I'm a bit surprised and glad that they all came to Mom's party.

I also liked the "God Made a Farmer" commercial. I'm not sure how it's supposed to sell trucks, but it was a nice poem.

I think the 49ers got screwed on the their last down. Exciting game though, lots of firsts. Halftime show sucked as usual.

Ah yes. Vegemite. I didn't realize it was in the pic until after I took it and then wondered if anybody would pick up on it. Me ex-wife is an Aussie. I never thought much about it before but my kids are half Australian. I have a nephew a few years younger than my son; 20 something. They look like brothers. They just live in different hemispheres.
