I used 1 1/4 gallon of water for my 3.25 lbs of grain is this too much water??
How much water for 3.25 Lb's of grain.

Well, you can go up to 2 quarts of pound for mashing grain. So you could have used up to 6.5 quarts (1.6 gallons), so you're ok. I'd rather use 1.25-1.5 quarts of water per pound of grain, though.

Im only asking because for some reason some of my grain seemed to clump up...
Sometimes that happens, and it seems like you have to stir until your arm falls off to get rid of those doughballs! I take a big spoon and smash up the doughballs against the side of the pot.
