Phase II is nearing completion. I have just about everything I will ever need, including enough spare parts and raw ingredients to open a LHBS as the closest shop is over 80 miles away. I have no idea what I have spent but look at it as a serious investment. Who knows where this will lead or how soon you'll start seeing Deep Six at your local quick stop...

Im w/ you I have spent several thousands of dollars... hell I have over 3 grand in my hop field alone. But California Brewing Company is more than just a hobby its an investment into my future.
and brother I cant wait untill I see Deep 6 here!!!! I'll showcase it at the brewery.

I bought a 200 dollar brewing kit, a bottling bucket, a case of bottles, a couple glasses, and two recipe kits.

About 300 dollars so far but I have only brewed two batches.

I have spent a near fortune it seems like.

245 Conical fermenter
30 Glass carboy
30 for plastic 10 gallon screw on lid carboy
10 filtering unit
20 Liquid disconnects that I got raped on at my LHBS
45 Ventmatic spout
30 for shank and assec
years ago i paid an insiane amount for 1 corny keg reg

The most money I have spent has been assembling my beer sculpture.

I got 3 kegs for free but the odds and ends that I have spent seem like a lot.

march pump was 90

QD cost me around 70

PID 45

23 for control box

50 for cable

20 for chiller

25 heating element

I've spent my fair amount. Try playing guitar/bass in a band. I spend way more doing that for much less to show for it.

Plus, if I can fill 1/6 bbl size kegs for under $25 in ingredients and some time, I save close to $70 a keg over micro beers.

I'm SAVING money! .... Really.... I am....

This was big investment year.

New Brewstand -$2500
New Kettles - $900
Keezer - $600
Miscellaneous Needs [or wants] - $500

Plus ingredients for 8 batches YTD

Other than knowing the detail of my brewstand build because I documented all the parts I used, the rest are estimates. I'm sure there are other incidental costs I'm forgetting

Lets see
Starter Kit 85
auto syphon 10
5gal BB 25
turkey fryer 45
propane tank 30
extra buckets 25
various little bits and bobs 60
IC 55
2 kegs for kettles 45
3 1/6 kegs 50

kegging set up 330
all are estimates but this is since nov of last year.

I hear ya! The brewhaus will open in a month or so hopefully. I have about $4k in that by itself so far.

I have a few $1000 in equipment and supplies but its nothing compared to the amount I spend at the strip club. Last night I dropped $400 on 10 or 12 lap dances and beer, and that’s a weeknight I usually go crazy on the weekends.

Just put together a quick excel sheet. Just got my starter kit at Christmas 2007. Not a bad investment for 8 months! And I've only brewed 8 batches. ok 7. One was Ed's Apfelwein and didn't really use much equipment!

5 Gallons Stock Pot $25.00
15 Gallon Keg x2 $40.00
Weldless Ball Valve kit x2 $60.00
6.5 Gallon Carboy $30.00

Starter kit $50.00
Auto Siphon $15.00
Propane Burner $80.00
MLT Build $35.00
Brew Smith Software $20.00
IC Chiller $70.00
Pond Pump for chilling $32.00
5 Kegs -$30.00 *Bought 20 for $10, sold 7 for $10, sold 8 for $20. Ended up making $30 and getting 5 kegs

Misc fittings $50.00
Chest Freezer for Kegerator $125.00
Hop Stopper $15.00
Siphon Soaker $10.00
22oz bottles x2 $30.00
12 oz bottles $15.00

Total $724.00
Good thing my Birthday is in 10 days. Hopefully be able to complete at least enough of a kegging setup for 1 keg with a party tap for now. Just need a regulator and tank.

according to SWMBO I have way to much stuff, she still hasn't noticed the stuff I picked up last week . She has no idea the cost and while I did get a lot of my stuff for cheap I have a pretty large amount invested .

0 dollars - At least that's what I tell my wife, who knew what you could get for free on Craigslist, 10 kegs, a few fermenters, and then ingredients every few weeks) :)

let's go for some estimates:

carboys: 16 at $30/ea = $480.00
conical fermenter: $500 (around that...don't remember)
fermentation cabinet: $500 in parts
mash tun: $220 total with modifications
120 qt kettle: $140 (i think)
32 qt kettle: $80
20 qt kettles: 2 @ $45 = $90
random stuff (bags, hydrometers, etc.): $300 over the last four years

$2300.00 or something like that.

i actually spend $1800.00 in brewing equipment in a two month period a couple of months ago, so i think that's probably a low estimate, actually.

There is one way to keep the SWMBO happy.. for every $ you spend on brew gear give her a $ in cash to spend however she pleases. Trust me, this system works like you wouldn't believe. Every time I come home with new gear she knows she has more to spend on her hobby. :mug:

I crossed the 1k mark today! Most of it funded by selling other crap on e-bay. Not bad for 1 year, including startup, and all grain conversion, and 30 batches

Except that makes your homebrew stuff twice as expensive:(

I have probably dumped close to $800 over time, but I was able to sell a lot of random stuff I had on craigslist (furniture and computer equipment)...so it really isn't that bad right...lol. I do not think I am to the obsession stage... yet, but I am hoping to get there real soon. And I am a noob to the AG scene...Wish me luck...

Misc stuff ( tubing, rubbermaid tubs to hold everything, air locks...etc $150.00

Bringing 100 AMP service to the Brewhaus. $1,500 thanks to the rock ledge that had to be jackhammered and the cost of copper.

Not including supplies, probably $500. I just bulit a nice Keezer out of a $40 chest freezer (craigslist) and I'm buliding a nice keggle out of an old Anchor Steam 1/2 barrel I got for free from a hotel. Free stuff is great!

Would have to be in the $1500+ range BUT that is because I wanted SS stuff. Had a bunch of stuff from 10 years ago but since getting back into it "had" to get this year as long as it was cheap as far as I was concerned 4 SS 7 gal conicals for $250 with shipping apiece, 3 9 gal SS pots with valves and 2 with false botoms and a monster 3 roller SS grain mill. If not for this year could have gotten away with maybe a $150 investment but the new stuff cuts down time and effort.
Plus it really looks cool.

Thought I'd revive an old thread. I don't have any updates. I've been a pretty good boy lately - really I have!

Any of you new guys want to chime in? Or how about some of the guys I've seen on here building some really cool stuff - here's you chance to boast (this is how guys cry) about how much you've spent lately.

My brewhaus funds have dried up till the end of January. February will be a good month to finish the walls & ceiling.

I'm in it for about $6K so far. It will come in far less finished than to have it built on site unfinished. Plus I have learned a great deal along the way and now have some cool tools for more SWMBO Projects.

It will be so nice to have everything in one location with the ability to brew day or night, rain or shine, pollen or no pollen, silk worms or no silk worms. :D

First brewing setup - Turkey fryer, bucket, 6.5g carboy, 2x6g carboys, tubing, auto-siphon, hydrometer, immersion chiller, sanitizer, SS spoon, funnel & strainer, airlocks & stoppers, Johnson analog temp controler, DIY fermentation chamber, 5g DIY cooler MLT for AG.

Total Cost: +/- $320 not including recipes

Kegging Setup - 5 ball lock kegs, 3 gasket rebuild kits, 3xMFL QD's, tubing, 3x picnic taps, 2x shanks and faucets, 10# CO2 cyl, 20# CO2 cyl, new dual guage regulator, used dual pressure/dual gauge regulator, used fridge on CL.
Total Cost: +/- $250

10 gallon AG setup: - same turkey fryer as initial setup, Keggle for HLT, Keggle for boil kettle, 10 gallon Rubbermaid cooler for MLT, Counter flow chiller, high temp 1/2" silicone tubing, brass QD's for hose, barley crusher, scale, march pump (next month), buckets for grain storage.
Total Cost: +/- $550

After my purchase of the march pump next month, and a stainless mash paddle I plan to chill out with the equipment purchases for a while. Those two items will more or less complete my major purchases for the 10 gallon brewing system. I'm going to wait to build a structure until I brew on it a few more times, and really get an idea for what design I want to go with. Aside from carboys, maybe some more kegs, I'm good for about the next 6 months.

Total for brewing for one year: $1,120 + ingredients

The beginner setup

Beer Kit: $80
10g Rubbermaid MLT: $60
CFC: Free, made 2 sold 1
Ingredients: $75 @ 3 batches
Turkey Fryer: $30
Misc: $55

Total: $300

Everything I have ever bought to make beer and wine and store it and serve it? I am pushing $10K real easy. And I still need to build my new brew house :drunk:

I prefer not to quantify this on the basis that my girlfriend could check my browser history and give me the look of death... Unfortunately, her look of death is similiar to her look of "come hither" If I misinterpret her look, I can find myself in some REAL trouble..
