How long can u sit beer on yeast??

Hello all, I have a budvar on the go at the moment, I have had it in wort for 3 days and am away for 6 weeks, is it ok or better to leave for that long? And what would be the best temp to do this at for a czech pilsner? Thanks

So once fermentation finished leave on yeast at 10-12c for 5 weeks will be good for it?

I assume you used a lager yeast? If so, the optimum temperature is 48-52 degrees or so (9C-11C).

That is a long time to leave a lager sit on the yeast cake. You may have some yeasty character imparted by leaving it that long.

I used budvar 2000 lagar yeast, I leave on holiday in 2 weeks for 4 weeks so should I maybe try keg before I go away if ready? I thought sitting on yeast for longer was better.

No, "sitting on yeast for longer" isn't better past a point. Lagers are particularly "clean" tasting and yeast character would be noticed and out of place. I've never kept a lager in primary more than about 2 weeks, but longer may be ok if the temperature is strictly controlled.

I'd let it finish up (should be done in about 7 days if you pitched enough yeast and are keeping it at 10C). Once it's nearly done, I'd do the diacetyl rest for 24-48 hours at 18C- and then rack to the keg and store it at 0C for 8 weeks.
