"And BOOM goes the dynamite!" :D

LOL, kinda like how i laugh at the ac/dc song TNT, because it's cast able, and dynamite is stabilized....thank god, the hard alcohol has it's own forum, or it may come to blows...

bottom line, even walmart "great value' apple juice is cheaper than milwakee's best......

"Bottled: Westmalle Tripel clone 11.5%, St Bernardus Abt. 12 clone 12.5%, St. Bernardus Abt. 12 clone 12.5%, Gales Prize Old Ale clone 10% (1 of 2), Gales Prize Old Ale clone 12.8% (2 of 2)
Fermenter: Final Absolution clone ?"

and obviously you like SMALL beers, and don't care about the alcohol? lol

I’ll also be brief.
If someone thinks cheap is good, who are we to argue with them?
Well, in all reality, "cheap" and "good" are unrelated metrics and have nothing to do with one another.
Now, it is possible that the two could overlap by coincidence (or an individual's taste), but cheap is not good, good is not cheap - good is good, and cheap is cheap (both being subject to each person's yardstick of what constitutes good or cheap).

:bravo:

One of the finest examples of circular logic in the history of the Interwebs!

there are some fools that are willing to spend $300+ on a pair of nikes these days...just because something costs more doesn't mean it's better....sometimes dishonest people might pick up on that, and just charge more to get people to think it's better....

@grampamark you know i made a move in music match? don't tell me you're getting too caught up in the cheap beer debate to much to post....

It was totally an accident that I saw this (you didn't "@" me). Awesome. I'm quite proud of my line up, rightly or wrongly. You're correct, I don't search out small beers in the store or for recipes. My tastes run toward styles that get bottled and are at their best in six months to a couple of years. I do have one style that I can drink after a month.
Cheer, mate and, by the way, did you end up giving the OP the proper rundown on how to make beer as economically as possible?

I'm gonna consider the above while copping my morning squat tomorrow...

Cheers! :drunk:

hey now, i got a bottle of brandy that's 12 or something years old! i've lost count honestly...think i made it in 2009....might have been '08...and it's 65% alcohol! lol

and back on topic, i made it out of carlo rossi wine....i just needed the jugs, and they cost less full, then empty!

edit: this was funny enough, i had too, you know @davidabcd you should hang out in the drunk forum! i apparently spend to much time in the sober one's....

Do you go trick-or-treating just to get free fermentable sugars? ;)

no! but if i was still young enough to trick or treat, knowing what i know now...i probably would and stash it under my bed! that's the way the dope cook did it in jail....

I'm okay with my paltry 12% beers. I make them to sip and enjoy with family. I'm not desirous of making anything higher that might set a fire or be capable of starting an engine.
I'm not sure where the "drunk forum" is unless you're speaking of the one with something like "mindless mumblings" in the title.
From observation, you are the person who should advise others when a "Little House on the Prairie" approach is desired.

it's bed time, but i love it when the topic is cheap vs expensive beer...gets most people riled up, it's just fun.....

lol, i don't remember or know why that was in my quote list, but i thought i'd add it...could swear i did

speaking of the one with something like "mindless mumblings" in the title.

yeah that's the one, that's why the gov'ment tries to tax everything we enjoy! they'd probably try and tax your homebrew as hard alcohol! that's what cali did with mike's hard lemonaid.....(and i assure you i'm getting ready for bed, not trying to start a fight...still got 8 oz's to finish though!) :tank::cask::inbottle::bott::mug: they all seemed appropriate

edit: and i see a motorcycle in your avatar, you know their dangerous?

This is really like asking, "How cheap a hooker can you find?".

You REALLY want to go there? I was approached by one in Tel Aviv that wanted
thirty shekels, at the time that was seven dollars.

Uh, no!

All the Best,
D. White

Was it Shelly? 'Cause if it was, you missed one HE*L of a time my friend! I still remember that night fondly after all these years...
Ahh, but i digress with fond memories...

To the OP:
I do NOT want to get anywhere near this argument, but my $0.03 is: don't forget about hidden costs, like a grain mill, water treatment, scales, equipment, etc. If you brew and or drink enough these costs get spread over each gallon/batch.
I am sure it has been said but time vs. cost for a lot of us.
Growing hops is fun but i hear 2 to 4 years to get a true yield.
Have not done barley yet.
Buy in bulk sacks and save! But don't forget to store in a proper container.
Etc. Etc. Etc.

The best way to save money on beer is to make friends with home brewers. :)

There are gallons of beer that I just pour down the drain after a couple months when it starts to stale because I don't drink it fast enough.

motorcycle in your avatar, you know their dangerous?
Dangerous? They can be. It depends on how much common sense one uses, basically. Also, the safety measures to be taken are made well known to potential riders; some just don't choose to apply them. The vast majority of riders who get whacked don't follow these basics.

i'd even make it easy for you, and just bring some 2-liter soda bottles to fill! ;)

@GrowleyMonster , keep us posted. did you get a hold of neil at jeferson feed? and how much was a sack of whole barley, if you did?

and i've had my feed store order 5 gallon tubs of molasses too!

You are doing it wrong. Supposed to be pouring it down your gullet not the drain.

funny i'm watching this...

i would say i prefer oak aged wine, and can tell the difference....

No I spent the day trading and working on GF's car, trying to chase down some hard to find parts or better yet find someone who would do the work. Other than a dealership. Finally found an ebay seller so I don't have to hit the junkyards tomorrow, so I will call or visit.

Feed grade molasses would probably be just the thing for some home distilled rum, that is, I mean, ethanol fuel. Probably cheap enough.

when i got it ordered here, it was ~$22, i believe, been a while....got 2 gallons of 65% from it.....

Neil said the last time they bought any, it was in 40lb sacks, and they sold for $39.95, and that was three years ago. I am pretty sure I can beat that elsewhere. At a buck a pound, I don't think it is worth it.
