I always wondered what my first post would be, and it's finally here. Let me just give a quick thanks to everyone who contributes to this forum for the vast amount of knowledge that is available here.

So... I did some searching but couldn't find the exact answer I was looking for, nor do I know if this is the right topic to put this under. I am thinking of entering a homebrew competition (my first one just for kicks), but my brew day is going to be dangerously close to the deadline for getting bottles in.

My question is, what exactly do they do with your bottles after you turn them in? The competition itself isn't for two weeks after the deadline so my thought process is that even if I only bottle a week before the deadline, they should be able to bottle condition for another week or so, right?

Thanks in advance.

For most competitions I've been part of, we try to store them cold if possible or at least "cool" and not at a warm temperature. I can't speak for other competitions, of course.

If I were running a beer tasting competition I would presume the beer is complete and ready to drink, and store it at serving temperature.

Most of the time the information does say "cold" or "cool" storage, so I would not necessarily count on temps. warm enough to carbonate while it is there. That being said - just shoot an e-mail to someone "in charge" and ask them. Sure they can let you know.
