The Despicable:
Right near the end of the fest, some scumbag dumped a beer over his wife's head and then verbally berated her in front of the crowd. ******* domestic abuse at FOFA, right in front of everyone. Huge props to the organizers and volunteers that showed up almost immediately and dealt with the situation as professionally as anyone could have hoped for. One employee (brewer? volunteer?) calmly spoke with the couple while other staff quietly surrounded the situation should additional assistance be required. The situation was defused quickly and the woman appeared to genuinely appreciate the help. Unfortunately it looked like she declined to pursue further action (i.e. file charges) as the scumbag remained in the fest. On the ride home I heard he actually won one of the raffled magnums - which I really hope isn't true because he deserves a beating or jail time rather than a ******* prize for his attendance at FOFA this year.

Jesus. Anyone else witness this? I'm sure this ******** is associated somehow with social media and beer. Maybe someone can identify him? What a ******* clown.

Had a great time at the the fest but the line cutters that kept on short cycling back in. Heard one of them say they drank so many pours of E that it had to be more than an 750.

I think we all know the specific raffle winner I'm talking about. Some people on here are still waiting for boxes from him, in fact.

Ah, Saugus.

Yes, my comment was more in jest. Also want i to be known that I was there with my wife but was not the domestic abuser. My wife rules.

I feel like my FoFA was very successful. Taking a week off to explore New England beforehand was an amazing experience, and the event itself was something to behold.

Those Empire Pies were delicious and I'm kicking myself for only getting one. The Bluebernie kombucha was fantastic as well. I didn't mind the rain since I brought a jacket, umbrella, and boots, and the weather was fine most of the time for my tastes.

That was my first time hearing Great White Buffalo and was blown away. I definitely need to dig more into his works.

In terms of beer, HF and SP killed it. I "only" got to go through the SP line once, but major kudos to them for bringing a huge amount of stock to keep great things pouring for the majority of the fest. Wunderkammer was a surprise hit that had ....interesting... beer descriptions but were tasty. I greatly enjoyed all I had of Suarez as well.

It was nice seeing some of you guys and big thanks to Don for organizing SLM and kep for the bus! I hope I get to go to this again next year!

I had heard he got thrown out.
He walked away from the situation after a bit, and the volunteer stayed talking to the abused wife, but the scumbag definitely stayed.

Which raffle did he win? That should make it easy.
The scumbag was standing with people (friends?) somewhat near the tap room porch during the start of the raffle, however during the drawings I was focused on my tickets, and honestly couldn't see anyone who accepted bottles - I'm a pretty tall guy but was standing downhill a bit and had no vantage point.

I was standing with the girl who won the Ann mag, and the guy who won the crooked stave mags already posted here, so that should narrow it down

*On the one hand I hope the info I received about him winning a magnum is incorrect because he doesn't deserve it, but on the other hand if it helps identify him then maybe it'll be worth it.

I'm sure if anyone knows some of the event volunteers they'd be able to give a bit more insight on the situation. Like I said, there was a good group of them there - maybe 10 or so?

They know who he is. And yes, luckily he was not the one who won the Ann mag. That guy was on the same bus I was.

You a police?

I had pours of Doechter and Dry Hop Marius, and I also saw a bottle of Paradisiadae and a few ______ as well as an unmarked mystery bottle

*snickers*

I believe there are numerous witnesses from Friday (and also at the anniversary in April) who may disagree with you.

And if it's a duet battle you want, I pick innuendobrewskiman63 to be my partner. Wave your white flag now.

Some comments on what others posted above:

-The jerk who threw his beer at his wife didn't win a magnum. I hope he gets the help he needs.
-There were a lot of line cutters toward the end. The pourers were doing their best--repeatedly yelling, "If you're not coming forward in the line, you will not be served." But it was a mob. My wife (who was volunteering at the raffle table with me) called out a couple of people for cutting in from the side.
-There appeared to be a direct correlation between people being willing to wait in long lines for other breweries and how long the HF kegs lasted. At the end, the HF sixtels were going fast.
-White Buffalo was awesome. I was doing my best to listen to him, and only got out into the open once to soak it all in.

All in all, I loved meeting so many generous people. If my Hawaiian friends are in this forum, hello! As Shaun said at the end, we raised, in 4 hours, about 75% of the median annual income of someone living in Greensboro. Your generosity will go a very long way to making a difference in helping kids in Greensboro begin their education on the right foot. Thank you!

Hi Ron! It's Jon, the tall Hawaiian. Great to see you and your wife again.

Another excellent weekend up on Vermont with everyone. A few bullet point thoughts on FoFA...

- First of all cheers to Side Project for bringing enough beer to be one of the last tables pouring even though they had one of the longest lines all day. I always hate seeing breweries that know they have hype showing up to an event and running out of beer right away. Sante Adairius is the only brewery who ran out of beer really early, and I did hear there was an issue with a keg they had brought, which is unfortunate if that's the case.

- Somebody get the meat pie people to bring way more pies next year. They probably could have sold three times as many pies as they did without breaking a sweat. Not only are those things delicious, but the fact that there's no wait time for them once you get to the front of the line helps keep the overall food situation in a good place.

- This was my first FoFA in three years, and I'm not sure why they moved away from what they used to do with the Hill table where each beer pouring had its own line. Definitely would have made things easier/more orderly, especially towards the end when Hill was about the only brewery still pouring. At the very least I think it would have made sense to have a separate Marie line from all the other saisons.

- I'm not sure who came up with the idea of cider bombs, but dropping shots of the Eden ice cider into any of the other ciders being poured was a fun way to spend some time in the middle of the fest.

- I did get a chuckle out of Shaun basically calling us ******* idiots for waiting in line for beer... at a beer festival.

Yes, 100% this.

200% this.
