Rain encouraging people under the tent may have contributed to stuff kicking early, but it sure made the bathroom lines short...
Why more people didn't have raincoats is beyond me. ******* amatuers.

I do not remember any of this. I think the 6 pints of Edward after hitting up Foam, Alchemist, Docs, and Hill beforehand did me dirty. I need Jesus.

I had a dream once...

Does anyone remember what Shaun said about the music/beer lines at the end of the fest when he was on stage? I have an idea but I'm not sure.
Essentially said what a bunch of ******* idiots we were for waiting in line for beer when there was great music playing and nobody was standing to listen to it.
The music was pretty ******* incredible...but the weather didn't make listening too easy. Would gladly pay to see him though
Perkins & Mansfield were awesome. They've been playing together for years. Great addition to the festival.
Yep. I Fan boied with Jamie fantastic musician and he goes "didn't we hang at a Jazz Mandolin Project show years ago with Fishman in Geneva NY?" ******* guy has a memory like a steel trap.
I notice you didn't lick his face and make him cringe, both externally and internally. Just saying.
Yet we were texting last night about planning SLM 3.5 last night. Hmmmmmmmmmmmm.![]()

Yeah, there were a lot of breweries that I had planned on stopping by and were completely out early on. Good job out of Side Project for bringing a lot of beer. I felt like I was on a line more than usual instead of taking in the event. I wish HF kegs were changing out more and some of the beers that didn't make it up were pouring instead of Marie (maybe a separate line/station for just Marie-maybe there was?). The Hill line was super long towards the middle to end because of so little options and the rest of the beers were getting rushed on at the end. I thought I remembered more than one line in the past. For people that went to fofa multiple years, did it seem like beers ran out faster than normal? And that hill farmstead beers were not rotating as fast as normal? Marie seemed like it was on all day, and they were giving out full pours just to try to get rid of it.
It was a good time but I felt like I tried a lot less this year. Maybe it was just the rain forcing people under the tents.
I'll try to to make this post sound too disgruntledThis said, I'm looking forward to reading some disgruntled reviews on BA forums later...
If this is in reference to the 10-15 attendees who posted up nearby and continuously cut the line while yelling "LEFT LINE!!!" I agree completely. However I have a feeling you're referring to the mob scene that occurred when HF added 2 extra taps for the last 30 minutes of the fest. That "Left Line" crew caused dozens of other fest goers to flood the bar area with no semblance of order or an actual line - it because survival of the fittest / biggest ******* willing to plow through the crowd for 3oz of Norma. I fought through it once and then gave up and switched to water for the last 20 minutes since all other breweries were out of beer at that point. I don't blame people for being disgruntled that it turned into a disorganized mess, as those who followed basic line etiquette got shafted. There were definitely some disgruntled people at the front of the hill line toward the end, not a classy look :/

The part that didn't need to happen was when people started acting moronic with cutting in the front at the Hill line at the very end w/ E. on. No one was managing the line and apparently not everyone could be an adult about it. Had a good time nonetheless, but wish I had tried more beer, less on lines and more enjoying the rest.
Yeah but how would everyone on line know that? I'm sure not many people were aware standing outside. Maybe it was cause of the rain, but they used to put up the beers pouring also on the outside of the tent, so you could plan accordingly. They did split the Hill line a couple times. The one time in particular was when WoL:TH came on, they split it half WoL/Marie, other half Flora BBR and something else.

Loved that band. Stacy Starkweather is a beast on bass.Jazz Mandolin Project show years ago with
I had heard he got thrown out. Either way, that is pretty disgusting. If you'd do that to your wife in public, I don't want to think about what might go on in private.Buckle up, this is a long one!
I'll try to to make this post sound too disgruntled, because overall my first FOFA experience was a good one. Unfortunately the longest parts of this post will sound bad, so I hope I don't come off like I'm complaining about the fest itself - trust me, I'm not.
The Good:
The volunteers were awesome (more on them shortly), the brewers and their employees were pleasant and enjoyable all day, the beer was amazing, the food was top notch, and the attendees, for the most part, couldn't have been nicer people. Also, the music!!! Just wish I didn't have to have one hand on my beer and the other holding my umbrella otherwise I would have clapped much more enthusiastically!
The Bad:
Really not much - the event was organized well and executed smoothly in basically every facet! I wish the beer lasted a bit longer at most booths, but I still got to try something from every brewery in attendance so it wasn't that bad!
The Ugly:
The line cutters made that long HF line slow to a crawl for anyone outside the tent. I'm sure some of you are on here, and may call me out for being butthurt, but seriously **** you. There were quite a few attendees who spent their day hovering 10-meters from the HF table and then casually sliding up to the bar in front of us "suckers" who waited 15 minutes in line.

The Despicable:
Right near the end of the fest, some scumbag dumped a beer over his wife's head and then verbally berated her in front of the crowd. ******* domestic abuse at FOFA, right in front of everyone. Huge props to the organizers and volunteers that showed up almost immediately and dealt with the situation as professionally as anyone could have hoped for. One employee (brewer? volunteer?) calmly spoke with the couple while other staff quietly surrounded the situation should additional assistance be required. The situation was defused quickly and the woman appeared to genuinely appreciate the help. Unfortunately it looked like she declined to pursue further action (i.e. file charges) as the scumbag remained in the fest. On the ride home I heard he actually won one of the raffled magnums - which I really hope isn't true because he deserves a beating or jail time rather than a ******* prize for his attendance at FOFA this year.
Ok, to end with a positive... the people who I met and spoke with are the reason why I love beer so much. I didn't get many TB or BA names, but I know I talked with quite a few of you and, chances are I thoroughly enjoyed our conversation. On top of all that, I got to meet pushkinwow and his friends briefly after I mailed him my DD ticket - it was good to put a face to the TB account! Steve then dropped a box of beer on me as I left, and I can't thank him enough! Those Canadian handshakes and a stop at Parker Pie ended my day on a high note.
Hope everyone had as much fun as I did, and hopefully I'll get to meet more of you in the future!
