I just started a new batch of corn whiskey wine tonight. My S.G. was 1.160 when I got it all mixed up. I followed the directions in the recipe. Is there anything I can do to lower the S.G.? The recipe said it should be 1.110.

I guess I can. I was only planning on making a gallon. I thought about straining it through a fine filter to remove any undisolved sugar. Would that help?

If the sugar is undissolved, it's not affecting your gravity reading in any case.

I diluted it with 5 cups of water and got it down to 1.115 tonight and added the yeast. Hopefully it will work out. Thanks for the help.
