Hi. I'm BobbiLynn and I love beer! Just starting off, I do have a question. I have some expired Mr. Beer supplies. Should I bother using them? I know to always use fresh ingredients but I also hate to throw things away. I was thinking about adding them(HME and the yeast that comes under the lid), a little at a time to 5 gallon batches just to make a stronger beer or worst case scenario, I'll just have extra sediment to filter or a hoppier beer, right? The expiration date on most of them is 2011.

I have been reading these forums for a while, nice to find a place where people love and appreciate beer as much as I do!

Welcome!

If it was me I'd still use them, heck I drink milk that expired a week back, eat eggs that are months old and bread is good till it's blue and fuzzy ;)

Worst case, it doesn't taste good and you're only out some time. I'd probably not mix them into other batches though, if they taste mediocre no reason to make a good batch taste only OK.

I'd use it too, but don't judge what is possible by what you get.

That video is hilarious! I just watched it and laughed so hard I am crying. No, my mr beer ingredients are not that old, July 2011 is what most of them say on the bottom of the can. Thanks!
