Hey all, hoping I could get some advice from the collective whole.

Picture below is IPA in first fermenter for ~5 days now. Used 2 packs of Wyeast #1056 (brew stores suggestion). Never got bubbling action in the blow off, but have been told on other threads that its definitely fermenting. Any Thoughts?

Based on my experiences, the "high mark" of the Krausen is how high all the "bubbly foam" was at one point in your fermenter, which means it was probably quite active at one point. It's now fallen back to the level in your photo and is finishing up your fermentation. Only way to know for sure is to take some specific gravity readings a day apart. If it's the same, fermentation is done. You either missed your air-lock bubbling like mad, or your seal wasn't that good and the air was escaping some other way.

From the looks of that carboy, those yeast had a hella big party - and didn't invite you. They definitely rocked the joint...

Cheers! ;)

They've already said it, but to make you feel better I'll tell you again. (I know when was brewing my first couple batches, I felt better the more responses I got to questions)

It has definitely been fermenting like crazy. Like the first response said, if you didn't have activity in your airlock then you just didn't have a good seal. Make sure that bung is in their nice and tight next time ;) and you'll probably see all kinds of activity.

Regardless, this batch is most likely just fine and you'll be drinking your own homebrew in no time.
