Working on my second batch right now and am very pleased with my results on the first batch of amber ale. I just racked a nut brown ale from primary to secondary tonight and have a question about specific gravity. My original gravity was 1.047 and after a great 8 day fermentation, when I racked to secondary my gravity was all the way down 1.012. Should it drop that much in just 8 days? I'm assuming it just means that the little yeasties ate up my sugars quick.

I think this can also vary depending on the oxygenation, ambient temperature and yeast strain used. Although more alcohol is always better imho! *:)
