Extract brewing, you were a fun friend to have, to learn and to move forward, but onward I go to all grain, first batch tomorrow.

Cheers (and it was my best tasting extract brew to date, a Citra Bomb IPA), first one of the batch opened after 2 weeks.

Good luck tomorrow! The first go round may be a long day, but really its pretty easy once you are set up.:mug:

"Goodbye..."?''

Uh oh!

Someone pissed-off at HBT?
Random suicide about to happen?

Nah, just a pre-graduation exercise...

Technical Foul!

Cheers! ;)

I know you've done your research. Take notes about everything. Prepare to learn from your experience. ...but most of all...Have fun!

Good luck & have fun. The extra work is so worth it!

Although I have been brewing AG for 3 years, I continue to brew extract kits occasionally because I don't always have the time it takes for AG.

I enjoy brewing extract beers from time to time. I have a couple of hybrid recipes as well... mash a small grain bill, then add 3.3lb of extract to the brew kettle.

Never say never. Extract is used by a whole ton of brewers.

Having said that.... congratulations on making the jump to all grain. You're gonna love it.

I did a few extract batches this winger when I didn't want to brew outside. It was much warmer in the kitchen. So you may not really want to say goodbye.

I wonder since I started with all grain, if I'll ever post a "good buy" thread saying I'm moving on to extract brewing... Naaaaaw f that

Just remember... Your recipe for the first AG batch should be relatively forgiving of low efficiency. Try to craft a recipe that will work for either 55% or 80% efficiency.

In other words, don't over-hop your first AG beer...

Damn son, when you went in...you went all in! That's a big beer especially for your first AG. Glad to hear all went well.

I have never had Pliney The Elder, but 144.7 IBUs is crazy! Glad to hear it went well on your first all grain.

The only thing better than hitting your OG is tasting that first one and it coming out like you thought it would...congrats!
