Hi all. Brand new to the boards but have been using this site as a resource for the last 6 months or so. It's excellent and I look forward to contributing!

Has anyone experienced these strange film like things floating around in their homebrews? It does not resemble yeast clumps.

Just opened a 'canary' bottle to see how far along bottle conditioning is coming. Carb is great after 7 days but the floaties are unsettling.

Some general information that might help.
- All-grain fairly simple pale ale.
- OG 1.06
- FG 1.015
- Primed with 2/3 cup dextrose prior to bottling 7 days ago.
- Dry-hopped with 1oz 14AA Chinook plugs that were filtered out prior to bottling.

Any experience/advice will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Primary: nada
Secondary: Pale
Secondary: Flanders
Secondary: Belgian Brett experiment
Bottles: RyeIPA, Fresh hop Cascade, Pale, the Grither

It could be flour from the grain. Ive had that happen to me before. It kind of resembles, well, like floating flour clumps. lol...im horrible at descriptions:) When I had this issue they eventually settled out but the first couple brews had a bunch and didnt impart any off flavors.

does it look anything like this? Sorry crappy picture

I had this happen in a batch I had made at a BOP place. They told me it was yeast in suspension. It did however quickly start to taste bad. So start drinking quick.

Could be yeast floccing out with proteins in the beer. Or some trub made it in the bottles.

Sorry for not posting a pic. It essentially looked like a broken film that was floating in the beer. I'm hoping that it was narrowed to that bottle. Giving the 22oz's another week to carbonate and will test again.

Thanks for the insights!
