I saw an article this morning on gene editing, coming up with new fruits, etc. which got me thinking about all the new hops out there. I believe these new varieties come from selective breeding, but was wondering if gene manipulation was/is being used to create new hops varieties. A quick search and I stumbled across this article about gene editing in yeast to give the beer hop characteristics from the yeast.

Personally, I'm opposed to gene editing for our food, although I know it has widespread use and with climate change (No! Climate change isn't really happening is it?) is certainly something worthy of consideration.

Here's a link to the article:

Wondering what peoples thoughts are on this?
