I have been brewing for a bit but bottling, I am now finally making the jump to kegs. I have a freezer that is not being used and would like to use it as a keg fridge; I have found a contraption that would control the temp and raise it to higher temps here is the link. http://www.micromatic.com/draft-keg-beer/kegerator-conversion-kits-pid-E26.html
Has anyone tried anything like this and how did it work??
Thanks

Dwayne

Now I know those work great in maintaining a temp in a fridge, but Im not too sure about using that to make a freezer maintain fridge temps.

There are two main types of controllers: analog (which is what you linked to) and digital. I've used both types and prefer my Ranco digital model. Analog is cheaper, digital gives you better control. My Ranco can be used for heating or cooling and I can set the temperature control band to 1F.

My last analog unit sprung a leak in the sensor tube & stopped working.

Freeze or fridge, either type will do the job.

That one is very common to use on a freezer to kegerator conversion. I have a similar one that I bought on ebay for $10 that has worked well for the 7 odd months since I did what you're talking about. I say go for it, but you may want to look on ebay.

for about the same cost, actually a bit cheaper, you can get a digital love controller at coleparmer.com

you just need to wire it, which isn't that difficult, and i have a diagram if you ever need it.

here, let me try to find a link for you...

that is the one i used, and i just bought an extension cord to wire it to the freezer. hope this helps!
