I wandered into the security office at the college to drop off a TV and saw a mini-fridge sitting in their back room, unplugged. I made a joke that I would trade them the TV for the fridge.

Turns out that the fridge was left there by a former employee who didn't want to take it with him and they didn't have room for it anymore. So, it's not state property (meaning that it's legal to make disappear) and they didn't want it anymore. They shot me an email yesterday letting me know it's mine.

I don't even know the make and model or if it can be converted. But I can end up destroying it trying to make a kegerator out of it and I won't be out a cent. :D

sounds like a good deal. I came into a situation kind of like that and since the coils are on the back and the ice tray is the copoler I plan on stripping it down to the cooling system only and building a cheap fermentation chamber for it.

open up and look inside. should be someting labled somewhere on it. nice find.

I see it posted on the back more then the inside- Either way, if you don't have a corny, they're about 9' diameter and you want at least 27-28 inch high. See how many you can cram in there! Nice score :)

Managed to get in to work for a few minutes before they closed campus, but I stopped in and checked out the fridge a little closer. It's a Sanyo, but not the prized model. It was a 366W, if I remember right. If it's not kegerator material, then I can always just use it as a fridge and fill it with bottles. :D

Even if it's not the coveted kegerator model, you can put a cuff on the front like I did with this Magic Chef. Holds 3 cornies with gas and beer lines now. Once weather warms I'll get a tower built and paint applied.

Picked up the fridge the other day and it's 9.5" from the hump to the edge and 29" high if I move the freezer shelf. SWEET!
