I know some of you are probably in the current FotD trade so would it be better to do our pick on the same as over there or the following week. I am thinking about doing our pick on the 24th or 25. Whatchall think?

I would prefer being able to ship the same day for FotD and FotHB, but that's just me.

TwistedGray's offer:
Blue Balls Session Pale Ale (~3% ABV) - a basic pale ale using nugget, centennial, amarillo, and comet hops. I added about two pounds of flash frozen blueberries to the secondary.
Russian High Life Session Pale Ale (~3% ABV) - same pale ale as noted above except this sat on some Russian black tea (caffeinated) in the secondary. I have not had this one myself because caffeine messes with my stomach nowadays, but I really liked the tea when I still drank black tea.
Roo's Tea Biscuit Session Pale Ale (~3% ABV) - same pale ale as noted above except this sat on some Rooibos herbal, red tea (non-caffeinated) in the secondary. If you like herbal, somewhat Earthy tea you will enjoy this one.
Strawberry Rhubarb Wheat (~5%) - I forget the hops used in this one, but it's a pretty basic wheat beer. In the secondary I added both frozen strawberries and rhubarb.
Raspberry Mint Wheat (~5%) - I forget the hops used in this one, but it's a pretty basic wheat beer. In the secondary I added homegrown raspberries and a select variety of super potent mint that I also grow.
Hibiscus Pale Ale (~3% ABV) - same pale ale as noted above except this sat on hibiscus petals which adds some high levels are bitterness depending on how long you keep it on the petals. I leave mine on for several days and offset the bitterness with alcohol sugar. This is one of my favorite beers that I've made.

GaBrewZoo

GaBrewZoo's offer:
Honey Saison - When I brewed last year, this it was just a Saison with honey in it, with a bit of farmhouse character. The last month or so, some of the farmhouse character has mellowed out and the honey is really coming through. 7.5%

Amber Ale - This one is a standard I make for my wife. Maris Otter, Munich, Honey malt, and a little caramel with Columbus hops. 6%

Wheat/Rye - Originally made for my daughters wedding. 50% 2row, 33% wheat, 17% rye, light hopping. Great summer beer. 4.5%

NEIPA - 2row, munich, flaked oats, oat milk, looks very muddy. Very small bittering addition, ONE POUND of hops split between whirlpool and two dry hops. Citra, Amarillo, Warrior, Zythos. Made this after tasting @imasickboy. 7.2%

Maybe a stout if I can get it in the bottle with enough carbonation. It is on nitro now, and I haven't been able to fill a bottle without it being flat. But it has chocolate, vanilla, and coffee. At first you couldn't taste the chocolate, all you could taste was the coffee. Now it has balanced out and is really tasty. 6.8%

So RevKev has got the FotD picks set for next Sunday at 2:00 EST, so we can do this one on Sunday before or after FotD or on the Saturday before. What works best for you all?

I'll be working Saturday night and I usually get up about 2, so if we do it Sunday I would prefer after. I'm off Friday night and brewing Saturday, so that's good with me also. Offers look GREAT btw.
. :bravo:

Ok here are some deets about my offer

Barrel Aged Russian Imperial Stout was aged for ten months in a Buffalo Trace barrel.

Extra Foreign Stout won BOS at CO. State Fair this past summer.

The cider was made with juice from Colorado Cider Company. I used a Saison yeast for fermentation.

The Cyser was a blend of honey more C CC juice. The color is a surprise.

The Hefeweizen is a new recipe. It is based on a clone of Paulaner's Hefeweizen. Good banana with light clove character.

The Cream Ale is also na new recipe. It is from Zymurgy, the NHC gold medal winner from 2015. Pretty good. I like mine better. I has been well received at some Homebrew club meetings.

Like how some of you put the descriptions in. Guess I was lazy. I was thinking of being really lazy and call them Beer 1,2,3,4,5, maybe next time. ;)

Oof. Fine, descriptions:
  • Attempt #1 - NE IPA - It's my first attempt at a NE IPA. Made with malt & hops. Amarillo, Citra, Galaxy, and Mosaic, to be specific.
  • Why Not? - Grisette - I'm pretty sure I got the recipe for this on the back of a postcard or something that was inside an issue of BYO. Decided to brew it and see how it tasted.
  • Bourbon Chips are Magic - Russian Imperial Stout - This doesn't have any bourbon chips in it yet. :) Currently fermenting. Smelled delicious when I put it in the fermenter. Hopefully I get a chance to try it before things are due to ship. ;)
  • Balaton Cherry Melomel - Melomel /w Balaton Cherries - It's a melomel. Made with Balaton cherries. It tends towards the tart/dry side.

If any of the above end up being a complete bust, you may end up with a bottle of a different melomel made with blackberries & blueberries. This one is still in the fermenter as well, but I tasted a sample last week and in my humble opinion, it's delicious. Alternatively, if you're a melomel fan, let me know, and I'd be happy to swap for any one of the other beers listed above.

There won't be any extras in my beer shipment this time - Using a 4 pack shipper, so no room unfortunately.

PianoMan's offer:
Bomber: Dubbel. 6.5%

Bomber: Gin Lime Gose. 5%
Bomber: Cherry/Raspberry Tart Ale made with WL644. 5.5%
12oz: Bourbon Barrel (Balcones Distillery out of Waco) Russian Imperial Stout, 10.8%

Dubbel: Brewed with Abby II Wyeast. My basic beer for building up yeast cake for a quad. My best Dubbel to date. 6.5%

Chocolate Stout: Used Wyeast 1056 to build up cake for the RIS Bourbon barrel. Used 4oz Coco nibs 3.5gal batch. 7%

Gin Lime Gose: 1st attempt at the style. Basic malt bill but used 1tbl of salt and coriander at end of boil. Wyeast Kolsch (#??). At first was disgusting...you know a normal gose, but age did it wonders. Used cheep gin and soaked zeat from 4 limes. I'm afraid I opened 1 bad bottle 2 weeks ago but only one. 5%

Cherry/Raspberry Tart: 1st time using WL644 Brett-Trios. Was attempting a Friek with a tart undertone. Been bottled for only a week and haven't tried it. I'll be sure to check there are no issues prior to sending. I used all frozen fruits 4lbs with 3.5gal batch. 5.5%

Bourbon Barrel: 1st true barrel aged brew. Used a Ten-Fidy clone recipe on HBT dumped on the chocolate stout wyeast 1056. Only aged for 7 days on barrel while testing along the way. Rushed it as we're having surprise family visiting. To me, came out lighter BA but I really enjoy it. 10.8%

Not to sweeten the pot, but I'm including 2 other 12oz surprise beers that came out nice! [emoji39]

Ok fine;

Chocolate Porter, I was looking to make my first porter when I found a recipe on BS that I thought looked good, Power Pack Porter it was called. Being me of course I had to modify the recipe. This is the second iteration changed slightly based of what I had on hand. I think it came out really good, my best beer yet. I could tell you what's in it, but I ain't gonna.:smh:

Milk Chocolate stout, another of my own creations. Made with what grains I had on hand, I had a pretty good stockpile to choose from. This was a test batch on my new mini BIAB set up and efficiency suffered but the beer did not. With cocoa powder and nibs the chocolate comes through really nice on this one. You are gonna wish you had a lot more of this one, at 4.5% it is an easy drinker.

Brown Ale, this was another test batch on the new mini system. Like I said I had a pretty good stockpile of grain so I was looking for recipes to try. I am not sure where I was reading, I think it was BYO, where they pretty much dared you to make a brown ale. So after much reading on the style I designed a brown ale based on what I had on hand. My first impressions of this beer where meh, so it got shunned, some time later I pulled a pitcher to share with my neighbor and buddy's on their band practice night, to my delight it poured the most absolutely perfectly creamy head and tasted pretty darned good. I guess it just needed a little more time.

Wee heavier, this was my first and only ( so far) decoction mash, wow I will be doing that some more for sure. The recipe came from HBT and when I tasted it after fermentation it was amazing, has been sitting aging in a keg for several months and I can't wait to try it. This one will be holding shipping up a little as it is not carbbed yet but will be going in the keezer in the next couple of days so it won't be too long.

Currant Cider, this was fermented with last year's currant crop from our yard. I can't find my notes for this but I can tell you that after fermentation my wife was disappointed with how it came out. Now some 6-8 months later her story has changed and this cider is really good. I been telling her she's been drinking all the ciders green, I think she is finally getting it.
