My second brew is an American Pilsner, the reciepe did not call to boil as long this time, the hydrometer reading was good but when I put the water in to get to 5 gallons it foamed alot. Is this going to be a problem or will it be ok.

I brewed a Bavarian Helles today for the first time and encountered the same thick foam being formed when I chilled the wort through the CFC. It was the consistency of a thick whipped cream. How did your pilsner turn out?

How much water did you add and from what source (tap, bottled, etc.)? Was the wort hot or cool when you added the water?
