Have any of you ran them through the dishwasher without removing the fliptop piece. It's a pain in the a$$ to remove each one and then put them back on before bottling and I'm wondering if it's necessary.

I just don't want to weaken the orange seal on the flip top from the heat of the dishwasher.

Do these need to be removed or have folks just ran them through and been fine?

I remove them for sanitizing, for a couple of reasons. First, I'm sure they aren't really clean underneath, and secondly because high temperatures aren't good for the gaskets. I sanitize them in their own little dish of sanitizer.

I don't use the dishwasher for sanitizing any more, but I still always remove the gaskets and sanitize them. When I pull them off, sometimes there is "stuff" under them.
