Hi all,

I started my first ever batch of cider this past weekend, and today (day 2 ) i noticed a strange guck on the neck of my Carboy. I’ve been reading a little about it and looks like it could possibly be yeast or Krausen? If it is either of those, should i leave it, or scoop it in/out with a sanitized spoon?
Any help would be greatly appreciated! Picture is below

Many thanks,

Mati

Nothing to worry about. No need to scoop it out. Did some bubble up into your airlock? At any rate, it looks like you have a nice, healthy ferment going :)

Need to clean your air lock. Looks like some got into it.

Goo on the side is just yeast. It's fine to just leave it.

All the Best,
D. White

Clean or replace the airlock. If the bung has overflow I would replace that as well. Then spray the outside down with starsan solution.
